Part 17| A Land Full of Happiness Pt. 2 - Sonnet #1

If snow had never fallen on this earth
And the cold winter winds refused to blow
Could our skin truly feel the sun's warmth
Would our skin know the coolness of the snow
If our eyes could not cry out in sadness
Had discomfort not been a guarantee
Would our smiles carry any happiness
Could we ever from pain or pleasure flee
They can't exist without one another
Without feeling one we would feel nothing
To feel one we need to feel the other
We need to feel both to feel anything
So we bleed and break, we cry through our strife
Proof that happiness is promised with life

Side Note: I'm still playing around with this concept because I find it really interesting and inspiring. It's just been challenging for me to express/word it poetically. Also, this is my first attempt at a sonnet and I know there's redundancy, I'm just hoping to write down thoughts I can maybe use later to better express what I want. Similarly, I didn't really like Pt. 1 poetically speaking either, I mainly wrote it down for future reference such as what I'm doing with Pt. 2.

Also, please read jimrileyenlight 's poem "Why are We Here?" It's in his book "Valentines Day Everyday." He writes about this same concept so beautifully, so go do yourself that favor!!
