The forest is a peculiar place. What people believe to be fairytales and fantasies, are all in fact, hiding away from the human eyes not wanting to be discovered (for obvious reasons). To avoid total chaos and clashing of the worlds, these creatures living alongside humans do not show themselves or any signs of existing. Of course, a few slip ups occurred here and there, otherwise all those fairytales would have not been retold. But in most cases the creatures hid away. Each nature biome, the rural and urban settlements and basically any part of the world have magical creatures inhabiting them. And, they are all divided and ruled by one creature per habitat, to keep peace and an efficient cooperative work environment.
Here, leader Jimin was assigned to this forest district "YMN" in the suburbs of Moscow. Jimin wasn't particularly excited, as the area was relatively large yet not a lot of action occurred there. Apart from maybe a few wars with the nearby swamp districts and animal disturbances. There was only a scrawny village with old people nearby, that occasionally came into the forest to collect berries and mushrooms. The only bearable factor was that his best friends were assigned neighboring forest districts, which meant that they could see each other often.
Already being on the job for 2 years since 18, he has managed to successfully maintain peace and a clean environment so far. All the districts' residents were really fond of the young and bubbly leader. The elderly respected him, the men followed his orders diligently, the women fawned over him and the children looked up to him. That wasn't surprising at all, as Jimin loved everyone and took the time and responsibility, a lot of care as well as hard work to achieve his results. It was a cheerful community of all forest creatures imaginable, from elves to plant hybrids and mermaids.
Nevertheless, even with such a chill atmosphere, a lot of accidents and conflicts occurred in the forest and neighboring districts. Although it was mainly due to mistakes of the residents. Very rarely Jimin would lose his cool, taking it out on the poor creatures. Though later forgiving them and covering for their mess. Despite those factors, he was still respected and loved, as they understood all the duties he had to fulfil. After all, nobody is perfect.
After a long morning Jimin invited his friends Hoseok and Jungkook for a drink and some much needed ranting.
"And so, I had to plead the ants to build their nest within no less than a 10 meter radius from the village, cover for the flower babies' colourful pollen incident AND I received another war threat from swamp district 'LOS'!" The exhausted fairy boy whined, taking a sip from his honey-pinecone cocktail. "When do you expect me to study alchemy? I still have to give in my assignment about 'Tiger lilies and their compatibility with wild flowers in potions.." he sighed and plopped his head on the table. The two fairies looked at him in sympathy. The three friends sat in the bar of 'Bark of Barkingson' owned by senior sapling Bark. The bar was growing with popularity lately, as the drinks were innovative and delicious. The relaxed atmosphere of this place however, did not do much to calm Jimin's nerves.
"Jimin wait you have some-" Hoseok said and reached to wipe the purple and orange pollen from Jimin's cheek. "There you go."
"Pollen?" Jimin groaned yet again, "Those goddamn flower babies! This is the third time this week! They made this new game of collecting the most vibrant and hard to wash off flower pigment and throw it everywhere.. I swear, auntie Marfa -god bless her- must hate me for coming with stained clothes so much in one week." Jimin chugged the remaining drink and loudly placed it on the wooden table. He was about to ask for more when Jungkook abruptly stopped him."Jimin, no. You are lightweight and you have duty tomorrow. Especially as the festival of the solar eclipse is coming up, you can't afford to spend the day in bed with a hangover." Jimin looked hazily at his supportive friends and smiled, his eyes forming crescent moons.
"Thank you guys! You are so nice to me.. All I do is whine but you still put up with my shit!" The blonde fairy boy was already a little drunk and was talking really loudly, patting Jungkook on the back affectionately. Though the loving gesture soon turned to heavy hits.
"Ow, Chim, please stop that it hurts," Jungkook removed Jimin's hands. Jimin pouted but quickly turned to face Hoseok, the boy already knowing his intentions and looked over at Jungkook, eyes begging for help."You know it. We will always be here for you, just like you are there for us," He said, in attempts to tame the buzzed fairy.
"Awww Kookieee!" Jimin almost crushed him with his hug, a miracle that he didn't harm the extremely delicate wings.
"Alright. That's enough. You should go clear your head, go for a fly or something." Hoseok nudged Jimin to let go of him.The drunk fairy thanked them, and wobbling only slightly, flew away into the depths of the forest, leaving the red and brown haired fairies to pay for his drink. He flew a good distance away from the village, nearing the large meadow district and the couple dozen houses that were previously seen from a good thirty minute walk away. The forest was getting less shrubby and dense, and a lot brighter.
As Jimin flew into a direct beam of sunlight, he was slightly blinded by the rays and lost his balance. The blonde fairy boy stumbled down, luckily hitting some leaves and branches until he landed on a bush of bilberries. It wasn't the softest landing but it could be worse. With his head spinning Jimin just lied down in the bush he fell into, admiring the view of the blue sky above him with a vignette of northern flora. The light cool wind rocking the branch Jimin layed on was very soothing, and so, he soon fell asleep.
