Chapter 5 An Unexpected Friend

Gavin-

“You’re sure?” Chelsea asks Austin again.

“I'll be right back,” I tell her brothers. I walk to where she is pacing in the hallway with her phone to her ear. “Tell him.”

“Hold on Austin,” She says pulling the phone away from her ear and covers it with her hands, “Excuse me?”

“Tell him,” I repeat taking the phone. “Tell him what I told you.”

“I told you. You have to tell him.” She tells me.

“Okay, fine, I will.” I put the phone to my ear, “Austin, Gavin. I’ve got a proposal for you.” Chelsea shoots me a glare before leaving to head to the kitchen.

“What is it?” His guarded voice skeptical.

“When you join Chelsea and me in LA, I’ve got tutors and athletes that will work with you to keep you on top of your game. What do you say?” I ask him.

“I don’t know, what’s the catch?”

“No catch, just make sure Chelsea keeps up her own studies for school and her role, that she doesn’t feel threatened on or off set, and just be there for her like you promised her.”

“You just said there was no catch,” Austin says, “Right before you list three.” He pauses, “But I made a promise to her. I need to keep it. I'll take it, thank you.”

“No problem.” I answer as Chelsea walks back in with five bowls of popcorn. “Do you still want to talk to Chelsea?”

“Just tell her I'll be in touch.” He answers disconnecting.

I hand Chelsea back her phone and take three of the bowls of popcorn, “I'll see you in a few minutes. I’m going to go grab something to read.” She says heading through one of the doors in the house. I head back to the living room and distribute the popcorn to her brothers.

“Ready?” David asks from the armchair in the corner, everyone nods and he hits play. Chelsea walks in with a few spiral notebooks I catch the title when she sits down by the lamp, she’s going over lines for Mysteries of High School. She’s playing Savannah Clearwater, Jake’s newest classmate. She hands me the extra bowl of popcorn and turns on the light.
