Do you know what it's like to feel dangerous? I bet you don't. It's such a scary feeling. Yet at the same time, it feels so empowering. To be drowned in darkness. Completely unaware of what lurks in the void. The terrors that could easily kill. The terrors that love to kill. No one truly knows how beautiful the darkness is. They choose to fear it. To defend against it. I don't.
Taji's Pov
There is nothing. I feel pain, yet I like it. The stinging burning sensation fills me with adrenaline. I can feel the knife that is still enveloped in my side, move closer to my ribcage. I pull it out slowly, watching as some of my dark blood spurts onto the ground. I watch as the gash seals itself with a dark glow. I've watched myself heal so many times now it's become a regular scene.
*crack*
I feel the all to familiar cracking of my bones.
'When did this feeling...'
My thoughts were interrupted by a rustling sound. Someone must be watching me. I can't change. But I have no choice. I have to. I scan the area, searching for the rustling. I smell the air. The only perks of being like this are the heightened senses. Increased hearing, speed, agility, smell, and stamina. The only part they left out was the chilling features. The dark eyes.
Everything around me was different. Over the years I suppose it gets easier to deal with it, but not everyone is as clueless as they seem.
*flashback*
"Alright. Repeat after me. You are nothing. You are nothing... You are not man. You are not man... You will never be man. You will never be man... You are feared. You are feared... You are unwanted. You are unwanted..."
The voice would always say this. It had become the philosophy. I never listened though. I always believed my mother would come back for me. I would cry every night, awaiting her return. She never came. My violent screams would cause the other children to scream as well. The officer would come in... and beat us all. They would all stop. Yet I would only scream louder, angering the officer. He would pull me by my hair, causing my scalp to tear.
He would take me to the tank. Drowning me. Taking every breath away from me. He would go until he was satisfied and his anger was controlled once again. My body would lay on the cold steel waiting for a guard to drag me back to the cell.
'You never learn.'
I know. But this is what keeps me going.
I slowly rose to my feet, feeling the aching pain surge throughout my body. If anyone was watching, they were in for a twisted surprise.
