Her feet crunched hard against the grass, as she ran in between trees and branches, dodging them with expert ability. She dared to look back and saw flashes of light, shining towards her. She gasped and pushed herself further. Anxiety, struggle and pain rose in her lungs, depriving her of the upper hand she had above her persecutors. Barely breathing, she reached her home. Locking the door, she ran to the hidden basement. The basement she had created just over a year ago to hide her from the police. What they were doing was wrong and she was determined to stop it. But she needed to have a hideout. There were two other properties in her alias' that were yet to be found by these conniving beasts. Shakily, she put her hands to her mouth to hide her breathing. Glass shattering, and yelling, banging, and shooting as the authorities bursted into her house. Afraid, she was, she risked the life of herself and her loved ones; yet no one knew but herself. That huge secret sitting on her chest, suffocating her as she lied through her teeth to her mother that everything was safe in this town. She was falling desperately into oblivion; trying hard to forget the fake life she lived. To forget the people she was doing wrong. To stop the man she had fallen for from seeing her as a criminal. Suddenly, the door busted open and her tears clouded her vision, she raised both hands in the air surrendering to them. Her man stumbled through the other officers, wondering why his house address had been on the radio requesting backup. He looked at his girlfriend crying, her hand in the air. He looked around at his colleagues. His friends, questioning himself, them and her. He reaches up to run his hands through his hair, grasping the strands and pulling hard.

"What's going on guys? Why the guns? Mi Amor? Stand up, get off the floor." She didn't move and the guns stayed pointed.

"Brason, She is under arrest. We believe she is conspiring to end the country. That she is apart of American 'Beauty'." His best friend patted his shoulder as they carried away his amor.

His feelings for her are conflicted in an instant. He hesitantly walked up the stairs. Mi Amor, the thought sounded vulgar in his head, calling her some thing he used everyday. But it hurt him, this only enraging him further. This hatred and betrayal for her overcame him, causing him to walk up to her and stop them from putting her in the back of a cop car. He instructed the sheriff to put her in his car and chain her to the seat. The so called ' love of his life' has betrayed everything he believed in, everything he worked for. Did she even truly love him? These thoughts traveled in his brain as he swiveled his body and snatched the keys from the sheriff. Brason slammed the car door shut when he got in. The squeal of his tires could be heard neighborhoods across. 5 minutes into the drive, his radio crackled with a call from his commanding sergeant.

"Officer Abott, I am told you have the suspect?"

"Copy that sir." Brason answered Sergeant GD

"Great. By any chance at all does this woman look familiar?" GD replies, slyly. He could imagine the slick smirk on his punchable face right now.

"Yes. It was my fiance sir." He would grind his teeth down to his gums if he pushed any harder.

"Ahaha!", GD snickered," Now bring her in."

"Yes Sir." was the instant reply received. It was funny how his soon to be wife was the mastermind that they had been searching for, for so many years. It was funny how if they hadn't found her in a month, he would've been married to her, become an accomplice. Tagged with her even if he hadn't helped her at all. He glances at her in the rearview mirror and she is still and quiet.

"Oh, Nadine, what have you gotten yourself into?" he tsks to himself. He can't help but think about all their old memories. He knows he can't love her anymore and as he pulls to a stop at a red light, he takes his engagement ring off.

"Brason, please understand something. My love for you never stunted.."

"What?" He turns around and looks at her, eyes wide." What? You want to say you actually love me and my position in the government had nothing to do with what you were planning? You want to give me a story about how you're sorry and a whole bunch of crap? NO. You know what happened? You lied to me Nadine, you lied for 2 years. Our whole relationship."

He looks at her again through the mirror, "Now shut up and sit back."

He focuses on the road again. Nadine scooches forwards and peeks through the separation bars.

"Brason, you know I'm not a criminal. Please trust me." She pleads to her love,

"Listen to what I have to say, I can promi-" The car screeches to a stop aside the road, Nadine looks at Brason as a different person, who is this man before her? Surely not the man she fell in love with, not the Brason who makes her favorite soup just right and gives her a foot rub when he is stressed. This isn't like him. She sees the face, those blue eyes, but they are hurt, betrayed.

"NO NADINE!" He yells, "You broke our promise, " he turns to her one last time,

"No secrets. No lies. You promised me."

"Brason, I know. I know I did. I should have told you what was going on but if I did, I could've risked losing you, and I couldn't." Nadine pleads to Brason on the verge of bawling,

"They would kill you, my sisters, my parents. I-I couldn't." Nadine breaks down and cries into her hands. Brason hands are tight on the steering wheel and his eyes soften seeing Nadine cry. Quickly, the scene of events emerge into his mind and his eyes harden as he starts the car and screeches off.

They reach the station in fifteen minutes, the small town they lived in Shaniko, a small town in Oregon. It wasn't hard to get to where they needed to be. It was dark now, almost 9 pm. Brason opens the door and pulls Nadine out of the car and she shivers as a breeze blows by. He clips her hand behind her back. He walks up the stairs, and Nadine slightly turns her head,

"Brason, please. Don't do this." He stares straight ahead and pays no regard to Nadine. Jennifer, a short, cute, blonde haired, blue eyed, female officer begins walking towards Brason. He keeps a stone cold face, but Nadine notices that Jennifer's eyes hold a glint, a hungering look as she eyes her man up and down.

"Hey Brason, I see you've caught your girlfriend, does she know that you were late with me last week?" She walks past them with a smirk and a wink. Nadine's head turned to Brason so fast, Jennifer could feel the whiplash,

"Brason? What does she mean?" Brason's lips go into a thin line.

A cry rips out of Nadine, she feels a pounding in her chest and she can't breathe. She begins gasping but refuses to let herself start crying. She is enraged. She begins thrashing, Brason's hold tightening on her. People begin to stare, Nadine only becoming angrier,

"HOW COULD YOU?!" She screams, " I love you! I can't believe I love you!"

Brason turns her around and looks her dead in her eyes,

"I can't believe I loved a criminal." Nadine instantly shuts up and slouches to the ground, her head down. Defeated, she is dragged to a cell.
