"Hello. It's me-uh Harry." You hear the voicemail on your phone. "I know that it's been a few years since.. us, but I just.. I thought maybe we could get together soon and just talk... I miss you, Y/N. Just uh... call me back when you get this."

You sigh putting your phone down. It's been awhile since you've seen that name pop up on your phone since you've heard that voice. Over three years. You and Harry dated back in 2012 for close to a year, but with you both being chart-topping artists that were busy selling out stadiums all over the world, the distance was hard.

It wasn't just the distance that made it hard, but also the way the media just loved your relationship. You two couldn't go anywhere without someone finding out and posting it online, which then caused a massive group of fans and/or paparazzi to follow you. It also didn't help that if you or Harry were pictured with a person of the opposite sex, rumors would talk about how one of you were cheating on the other.

The fans didn't help either, because you met Harry right as One Direction was really starting to take off and you had already been in the business for a few years, your fans thought that Harry was using you. And then Harry's fans would get angry at your fans for even thinking Harry would do that, so that caused a huge fandom fight between one another.

Finally, you and Harry just ended the relationship. You had argued about something so small, you don't even remember what it was now. The thing was though, that argument isn't when you two broke it off.

It was a few weeks after that when you two were in two different countries on tour. You both had noticed the lack of communication between the two of you since that night, even though you had left that night on good terms. You guess that you both just were tired of trying to make it work with the distance and everything else.

You hadn't spoken or seen Harry, except for at award shows, where you both just kept your distance. You both had agreed to the breakup that you would remain friends, but honestly, it was still too hard to be around him when you were in love with him.

Something that you never got around to tell him.

You knew that One Direction was taking a break next year and maybe that was why after all these years, Harry had reached out to you. You didn't know what to do, a part of you thought that maybe it would be good to see him and maybe get the closure that you knew deep down you need, but then another part of you was afraid.

You were afraid that you would meet him and bring back all those feelings that you had suppressed. You were afraid that you would want to get back together with him, but he would want to just be friends.

But the thing is, you two were more than likely different people now. You both were a few years older, more mature. He may not even be the same person you had fallen in love with back. You might not be the same person he may have loved back then.

You really thought that you were finally over this with him. You didn't think of him as much anymore. You didn't wish that things were different, but now, after hearing that call, it's all you could think about.

"Hello, it's me, Y/N, Harry. I got your message. Um. I think.. maybe we should get together and talk. It has been a while and I don't know exactly what it is that you want to go over and talk about, but at least we can say that we got together and tried.." You say leaving Harry a voicemail on his phone.

It was a few days later, you and Harry had finally just texted one another, instead of constantly playing phone tag. You both agreed to meet out for lunch in Malibu at a spot sitting right up to the beach. It was private enough so that no one really knows that you were there and private enough so that you two could have a really good conversation.

You still didn't know what this meeting was going to entail, what you were going to feel when you saw him for the first time in ages. What he was going to do when he saw you. What you two were going to talk about. You soon get to the parking lot of the restaurant and see that his car, or what you think was his car already there.

You take a deep breath, after turning off your car. You had told yourself that he if brings up the breakup, not to seem like it's still tearing you up inside. You couldn't let him see that you were still hurting, in case he didn't feel the same. You grab your handbag and make sure that you look presentable. No hairs out of the way, your makeup wasn't smudged.

Once you approve, you get out of the car and make your way into the restaurant. You look around and that's when you see him. He was sitting outside on the deck, that overlooks the beach.

The wind was blowing, you could tell because his shirt was moving along with the wind. His hair was up in a bun and he was on his phone. You couldn't tell if he was nervous or not, but you take a deep breath before walking over to him.

"H-hi." You say softly when you reach the table.

Harry looks up at you, taking off his sunglasses and smiles.

"Hi." He whispers.
