"Happy birthday bells!"

"Get the hell out of my home, if you come again I will not hesitate to place a restraining order." A still angry Bella seethed, taking her mother's hand and leading her inside her apartment, eyes and words burning holes into Lexie's head.

"Bella do not speak to your sis-"

"She kissed my Zayn." Bella said, closing the door with tears brimming in her eyes.

Her mother frowned with sympathy for the girl. She wrapped her arms around Bella, leading her into the living room and laying together on the couch and spilling every detail about what happened.

The now 50 year old, blonde lady cooed her daughter to calm-similar to the way she would when Bella was five and scared of doctors and the dark. Like when Bella was 14 and scared of high school boys and pretty girls. And finally, when Bella was 16 and her father disappeared into the night and never returned.

Through thick and thin, Diane always tried to be a good mother to her girls. And she loved them both equally, but she understood what Lexie did was unacceptable.

"Where is he?" Diane asked, handing Bella a round teacup with hotchocolate in it. Diane picked up snow and caressed the small dog softly, eyes intent on her exhausted daughter.

"He's at work right now... he comes back at 3." Bella says.

"You're still living with him?!"

"Mommy I feel dead when I'm not around him, I can't just leave him."

"I did not raise you to be this foolish. You came in this world alone, and you will leave this world alone. You don't need anyone but yourself, Bella. Look at me. After your father left I was a wreck but slowly I began to glue back the pieces of my heart and now I'm happy. I've got a boyfriend."

"Oh, wow..mommy I'm really happy for you." Bella grinned, the only real smile she had made in a while.

"As am I but that's beside the point. You're so strong, you don't need anyone my love."

"I get..thoughts when I'm not with him."

"What kind?"

"Like I want to go swimming and not come back." She said truthfully.

"You can't live like this. He's manipulated you into believing you can't possibly live without him but you can. You don't need him, you just yearn for him so strongly you've trained your mind to believe his lies."

Diane was a retired children's physiologist, and a brilliant lady. She was blonde with enchanting blue eyes, and she received age gracefully. She had learned to love wrinkles because they were apart of her, and she began to adore everything about precious life after quitting her job and becoming more involved with church-where she met a nice young man named Jake.

"I can't believe he would do this to you." Diane frowned, eyes settled on the wooden floor.

"Neither can I."

"She's ugly, by the way. I know it's not any consolation but her nose is ginormous, that therapist of his looks like a fucking shoebill with that beak of hers."

"What does it look like?"

Diane took out her iPhone X, showing her a picture of a shoebill. "I told you!" Diane says, which makes Bella laugh loudly.

"I hope she poked him in the eye
