CHAPTER IX (BACKGROUND CHECK)

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

Unlike what I usually do where I write the AN at the end of the chapter, I decided to write this one here before you could read the actual content.

First of all, I am very sorry for the extremely late update for this story. There was just a lot of stuff for me to deal with--the downside of having too many hobbies and responsibilities; plus the HOLIDAYS!!! <3

Secondly, I hope the readers of this story, despite not being active on giving votes and leaving comments, would continue their support. 

Thank you very much for the reads which has really surprised me because I didn't really expect getting more than five reads for every story that I make because originally, I decided to write stories and post them here to relieve stress and to continue my writing despite being busy with work and dealing with being an adult. "Go Jan! Whoo!!!!"

"Blue Team! Blue Team! Blue Team!!!!!"

"Whooooooooooo!!!!!!!! Go guys! Kaya nyo yan!!!"

"Serge! Serge! Sige!"

Napaingon ako sa narinig ko.

And there, I saw her again. Julliane. Yelling Kuya Serge's name.

Today is Kuya Serge's second competition for track and field and he's up against formidable opponents like Kuya Jan and Kuya Czar who both has long legs and are athletes who have competed in the nationals before.

Napatingin ako sa tee-shirt ko.

Green.

Napabuntong hininga ako at napatingin ulit kay Julliane who was wearing Yellow.

Bakit naman kasi napunta pa ako sa green team eh?!

Nasa kalagitnaan na sina Kuya Serge nang munti mapatid si Kuya Jan kaya medyo naunahan siya ni Kuya Serge na naging dahilan para matuwa ako kahit na si Kuya Jan dapat ang chini-cheer ko.

"Hoy, maling team ata ang tinututukan mo eh" biglang may bumulong sa akin na naging dahilan ng pagkagitla ko.

"Dyan! Please stop doing that!" paghihimutok ko.

"O ito, binilhan na kita, mahilig ka kasi sa lemonade diba?" sabi ni Dyan sabay abot sa akin ng isang malaking cup ng lemonade na katamtaman lang ang dami ng ice.

"Thank you." I said as I smiled at her.

"Yellow Team's Julliane, a Sophomore..." she began. Napatingin ako sa kanya.

"You know her?" I asked.

"Why do you wanna know?" she asked as she looked at me, scrutinizing every line and pore on my face.

I looked away.

"I just want to, I'm a curious human being!" pagdadahilan ko.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk" narinig ko mula sa kanya kaya kumunot ang nook o.

"Anon a naman? Hindi na ba pwedeng magtanong ngayon?" medyo naiirita nang sabi ko.

"At hindi rin ba pwedeng nagtatanggal lang ako ng sumiksik na mani sa ngipin ko?" sagot nya at inulit pa ang tunog.

I just rolled my eyes at her at hindi na sya pinansin. We're not even close in the first place.

"She's known as 'the girl who has no shame'" I heard Dyan say.

Napalingon ulit ako sa kanya.

"Nung first year nya, na-link sya kay Leonard Cirque, isang exchanged student dito sa Paxton International Science High School. Bandang Sptember nung pumasok si Leonard at nung time nay un meron nang mga kumakalat na issue tungkol kay Julliane. Na kung kani-kanino sya 'nagpapagalaw' at mayroon ssyang boyfriend na sanggano—sanddano in the sense na nakikipagbasag-ulo, umiinom, at marami pang ibang uri ng bisyo" she said.

"Flag ceremony nung pinakilala si Leonard sa buong school as an exchange student who was already in his third year at that time. Unang week pa lang niya, nakakaagaw na siya ng atensyon dahil nga foreigner sya at talaga namang may itsura sya. Matangkad, maputi, at hazel eyes...yan ang maririnig mong description sa kanya ng mga estudyante ng Paxton High nung nandito pa si Leonard" pagtutuloy nya.

"Days pa lang after lumipat ni Leonard, nakikita na yung mabilis na pagiging close nila ni Julliane, well, more like yung pagdikit ni Julliane sa kanya. And then kumalat na yung issue na sila na. Tapos, nagtuloy-tuloy na. Sinusundo sya ni Leonard sa classroom, sabay sila mag-lunch, nakikita sila sa mga café at mall together ng mga schoolmates, etc." she paused.

"And then, just a week before matapos yung nagdaang school year at bago umalis si Leonard sahil tapos na yung pagiging exchange student nya, hindi na sila nakikita together. Pero matunog pa rin ang pangalan ni Julliane...in a not-so-good-way though. Nagmukha syang desperada na habol ng habol kay Leonard habang si Leonard naman ay iwas ng iwas sa kanya. Apparently, nabuntis daw si Julliane at ipinipilit niyang si Leonard ang tatay" said Dyan.

I just listened to her intently.

"Nung inannounce nang aalis si Leonard during the last flag ceremony of the school year, Julliane wasn't there. She was absent for two days at nung pagbalik nya, kumalat naman yung usap-usapa na she had an abortion. The faculty was alarmed by all the issues surrounding her. Dating a thug, being too vulgar, dating and apparently getting pregnant by the exchange student, and aborting a fetus at only fourteen. She was a problem child." Dyan said. "Sa dami ng issue tungkol sa kanya nung nagdaang taon, di ko akalaing mag-aaral pa sya dito this year, but I guess makapal na talaga ang mukha niya." she added.

Medyo napakunot ang noo ko.

"How do you know all these things?" tanong ko sa kanya.

She looked at me and smiled.

"I just do." she said and winked at me; then left.

I was left silent, looking at Dyan's back. She's also a freshman like me, how can she know so much about the Julliane?
