Angel woke up with a smile on her face. Knowing she already had a friend brought comfort to her, it would make the transitioning to a new school much easier.

"Sweetie I cooked waffles, Tammy's still asleep so you get first pick." Angel smiled at her mum and rushed to sit down at the dining table.

Her long blonde hair was pulled into a tight ponytail at the top of her head, a small scrunchie wrapped around it. She had woken up and pulled on her signature outfit; short white skirt with knee high socks. She always felt cute in it and would give her a confidence boost on the first day.

"Are you excited for your first day Angel?" Her mum asked while sorting through the kitchen.

"I guess. Nancy, the girl from the store, said her boyfriend could take me to school." She said with pride, she was excited she made a friend.

"That's good honey, I'm letting Tammy take the car. She can drive you home."

Angel nodded and filled her mouth with more waffles. She finished up and ran upstairs to sort her bag for the day. She stopped in front of her mirror and sighed, she didn't want to stand out but she wanted to make a good impression.

'Hopefully today won't be too bad.'

Hearing a car outside, she looked out the window to see Nancy jump out of a Ford.

'Okay, I can do this.'

Angel bounded down the steps, bag thrown over her shoulder.

"Nancy's here, bye mum." She kisses her mum's cheek and ran outside just as Nancy knocked.

"Hey." Nancy laughed at the flustered girl.

"Hi, lets go." She grinned.

They climbed into the Ford and the driver turned around to greet the new girl.

"Hi, I'm Jonathan."

"Angel." She smiled.

He nodded and pulled out of her driveway. "So why did you move here?"

"Uh, my mum was fired a few times and my dad was offered a job at the hospital so they decided on a fresh start. We've only been here a few days but I like it, it's quiet."

The couple in the front shared a look that had Angel wondering if it wasn't as quiet as it seemed.

The rest of the drive was pretty quiet, the radio played music softly and every now and then on of the two would ask Angel a question that she'd reply to with a short answer.

"Well here we are." The car stopped and Angel peered out the window.

Small groups stood around the outside of the school, leaning against walls and cars. It was the first day back and everyone tried it catch up on the gossip that happened over summer break.

Angel stepped out of the car and looked around nervously, a few people looked at her but not many deemed her worthy of their time.

"Don't worry," Jonathan shrugged. "They may looks like dicks but most of them are pretty harmless."

She was about the question the 'most' when an engine's roar filled the air. Everyone turned to look as the blue Camaro sped into the parking lot. Angel watched as it pulled into a spot and no one's eyes left it.

The passenger door opened and a young girl with bright red hair jumped out, slamming the door behind her. She stuck her middle finger up at the driver and jumped on the skateboard that was under her arm.

Some people watch as the girl left but most watched the car, waiting...expecting.

"Who's car is that?" Angel asked.

"That, Angel, is trouble." Nancy said shaking her head.

The exact moment Nancy stopped talking was the moment that the driver's door swung out. Time seemed to slow down as one denim covered leg stepped out before the other. Angel seemed to be mesmerised as a boy, or rather closer to a man, stepped out. He wore denim jeans, a basic white tshirt and a denim jacket. In his hand was a lit cigarette that he brought to his mouth, taking a long drag before blowing out the smoke and dropping it on the floor.

She looked him up and down and observed all of his features. His hair was curly styled in a mullet, but he made it work. Through the shirt he wore, she could make out well defined abs and she blushed at the thought of seeing them bare.

"Billy Hargrove ladies and gentleman. Easy on the eyes, hard to actually tolerate." Nancy rolled her eyes and Angel snapped back to reality.

"Who is he?"

"He moved here last year from California, he basically became king of the school in moments as you can see," Jonathan gestures to all the girls staring at him. "All the girls love him."

"Come on we should get your timetable." Angel nodded and stole another glance at the boy with the blue car. She gasped when she saw his eyes were trained on her.

Angel got her timetable and found her locker, filling it with the books she didn't need.

"Okay we have english and maths together...ooh and gym. You probably don't have a uniform so just tell coach and you can wear what you're wearing." Angel nodded happy that she had classes with her first friend at Hawkins.

"I have to go, I'll see you later." Jonathan kisses Nancy's cheek before running off.

"Hey pipsqueak." Angel turned around to face her older sister.

"Tammy, hi." She smiled.

"Okay so let's just make one thing clear here lil' sis. You and I, are to remain unassociated with each other. I'll drive you to school and stuff but leave me alone." She narrowed her eyes before walking off.

"That's you're sister?" Nancy asked raising her eyebrows.

"Yeah she's older than me by 10 months so she thinks she's a lot better than me." Angel sighed. "We don't usually get along too well."

"I could tell." The bell started ringing. "Come on let's get to class."

The pair walked into their English class together, the teacher was already writing something on the board and Angel noticed that there was a seating plan.

She hesitantly walked up to the man with greying hair. "Um hi I'm Angel, I'm new."

"Ah yes I heard we had a new student, I'm Mr Davis. Okay I think we have one spare seat, you can sit over there at the back." He pointed to a seat at the very back next to a boy short black hair.

"Thank you." She made her way over and sat down, ignoring the stares she received.

"Alright class, today were analysing one of Shakespeare's most sonnets." The teacher started gaining a collective groan from the class. "Yes yes I know but we have to."

'Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.' Was written on the board and Mr Davis rummaged around his desk looking for something.

"Okay so-" he's cut off when the classroom door is thrown open and in walks the denim clad teen Angel had seen before.

The teacher sighed. "Go sit down Billy."

Angel dipped her head down and stared at the little drawings on the desk she sat at, her nail scratching at the splintering wood.

A sound alerted her and she looked to her right to see Billy watching her. He seems to look her up and down, biting his lip before smirking. He turned to the front, slouched in his chair as the teen on his right leaned over and whispered something in his ear that made him laugh.

"We'll see." He mumbled.
