Lockdown

You were in your freshman year of High school. It was around 10:35 am. U had to use the restroom immediately, and the teacher wasn't in the classroom at the time. Without saying a word, u rushed out and down the hallway where the restrooms were located. However, the restrooms were both closed due to maintenance. The only other restrooms were located in the basement level of the school where meetings and conferences were held. Other than that, it was usually empty down there. Although it was creepy, u still really had to go. You rushed downstairs without being caught by any security staff members. The bathroom was empty as usual. U quickly did ur business and washed your hands. U paced down the hallway towards the staircase, trying to be as quiet as possible so u wouldn't get caught by security. Suddenly, an announcement came on the school intercoms that said, "THIS IS NOT A DRILL, THERE IS AN ARMED MAN ENTERING THE CAMPUS. PLEASE REMAIN IN A SECURED AREA. I REPEAT, THIS IS NOT A DRILL." You felt your heart sink to your stomach. You quietly sprinted back to the restroom where you then realized that the door wasn't able to lock without a key. You panicked and quickly hid in the stall that was farthest away from the door and made sure not to lock it so it wouldn't look suspicious . All of the sudden, the lights shut off in the restroom, and probably the entire school. You felt the sweat dripping off of ur forehead and u felt like u were going to choke. You heard footsteps outside in the hallway... your heart started racing... Then....you got a loud text notification on ur cellphone. You quickly silenced your phone and also checked who texted u. It was ur friend (f/n), and they said, "DUDE WHERE ARE YOU!? EVERYONES FREAKING OUT ARE YOU OK!?!?" You quickly put ur phone away as u heard footsteps enter the bathroom. You became numb......you knew that these were ur last moments alive.......hot tears trailed down ur cheeks. The person in the room with u started checking the stalls..one by one...then..they got to ur stall..and slowly pushed it open....u just sat there..and stayed curled up in a ball. U slightly look up..and the man was just standing in front of u..staring at u....then he walked out of the restroom... U were shocked that he didn't harm u. U continued to sit in silence for what felt like an eternity. Finally, police scanned the building, and u were finally found and reunited with ur peers. The man was never found. But after that incident, two more schools were broken into. After that, the entire district increased the security budget. To this day..u still wondered why the man spared u....
