SIMON MARKS was a clever boy.

at least, he thought he was.

the teenager had started doing things he supposedly shouldn't do - sneak out late at night, drink, smoke ( and attempt to cover up the smell as soon as he got home ), kiss boys ( and girls - he is queer, after all ), dress just slightly feminine ( and paint his nails, then claw it off before he got home ) - things a rebellious teenager would do.

the boy thought all these things were cool, and he thought he had calculated it all so that he wouldn't get caught. however, simon seemed to have forgotten that his dad was the chief of police. it was his job to investigate anything suspicious.

simon thought he had it all figured out - till he got caught smoking and drinking by his dad late one night. his father, of course, immediately made him get into the car and come home with him.

he sent a glare his father's way. truth be told, the boy had also found out the truth about his mother - they were never naps, she was just cheating on his father. that truth broke his heart, and he was upset (to say the least) that he would hide such a thing from simon. simon was acting like a victim, when truth be told that if anyone was a victim then, it would definitely be teddy. however, as likely as it was that simon realized this, he didn't care.

smoking, drinking, and more - he was doing all those things both to "stick it" to his dad, since he was angry with him, and also out of curiously. he was just experimenting, right? simon believed there was no harm in it. he refused to look his father in the eye as teddy drove them both home, his beer in hand and his cigarettes hidden in his shirt pocket. that is, the beer was in simon's hand until teddy took it from him and took a big swig as soon as they arrived back home.
