Goldennight whirled around as a massive shape emerged from the shadows. There was a flash of light and suddenly a ball of light was hovering above the open talon of a giant HybridWing. Goldennight gulped; the dragon's tail was longer than Acekiller would be if he stood on his hind legs.
"I believe introductions are in order," the massive dragon said, his voice soft. "I am Cairo, I believe you are Goldennight?"
"Yes, I am," Goldennight said, lowering the blade of the flaming sword. "How did you make that glowing orb? I didn't hear you cast a spell."
Cairo's eyes glittered in the light that came from the orb. "Because we HybridWings have gods, did you not expect them to have children with us? My mother is a HybridWing but my father is Garjzla, the god of light," he explained. "We are demigods, half-mortal and half-god. Sometimes we get some powers;; your father's father for example, was the goddess of war, you should know what happens next."
"And me?" Goldennight asked, extinguishing the blade's fire.
"You have very little of those powers," Cairo said. "But you will gain powers soon."
"How?"" Asked Goldennight.
"The weapon," came another voice, another HybridWing stepped into the light. This one was just a little smaller than Cairo, with specks of gold in his green eyes.
"Exactly," Cairo said. He gestured to the other dragon. "Goldennight, this is Adder my closest friend. He is also the speaker of the prophecy, you of course are part of it."
Adder grabbed the hilt of the sword that was at his side. "I'm also a son of Kveykva, the god of lightning," he growled.
Cairo smiled slightly and said, "When we were fleeing our old kingdom, Adder's sword fell out of its sheath as I was carrying him. As I watched, the blade started to glow slightly and flickers of lightning went up and down it."
Goldennight sheathed his sword. "Can you take me and the others there?" he asked.
"Only the HybridWings," Cairo said, his eyes narrowing. "So we'll take you , your father and the assassin."
Goldennight opened his mouth to speak, but before he could, a bright golden light flashed into appearance next to him. As it subsided, Goldennight found himself standing next to Kuldr, the god clearly angry, his golden eyes glowing like miniature suns.
Cairo and Adder quickly dropped onto one knee, bowing their heads. Kuldr ignored their gestures and snapped.
"You are still as stubborn as usual old king," the god hissed. "The others will come as well."
Cairo stood up, his eyes narrowed. "And compromise the location of such a sacred place?" he growled. "You may be a god, but you are not making me do so. Give me a good reason why I shouldn't kill the others now."
Kuldr didn't say anything. Suddenly Cairo's ball of light vanished, leaving Kuldr's glowing eyes the only source of light. On his other side, Goldennight became aware of the presence of another dragon.
Cairo growled to himself and his ball of light reappeared, flickering weakly. It's dim light revealed inky black dragon standing on the opposite side of Goldennight, beside Kuldr, his eyes black as night.
Cairo hissed, and a flash of light shot towards the mystery dragon, who disappeared right before it hit them. Growling, Cairo raised a talon, he gulped as black talons grabbed his neck from behind.
"I'm your reason," came a smooth inky voice. "So unless you want to freeze to death in nothing but shadows consuming you, you will listen to my grandson."
Cairo nodded slightly and the black claws disappeared, the dragon reappearing beside Kuldr.
"I take it have the pleasure of meeting Sundavr?" Cairo asked, holding his throat. "It is a pleasure god of shadows, well, was."
The black dragon nodded. "Good guess," Sundavr replied, his black eyes glittering.
Goldennight had absolutely no idea what was going on, he looked around, confused.
Kuldr turned to face the entrance the Goldennight had came through. He stretched out a talon and with no warning, a blast of pure energy shot out of it, going up the tunnel. A few seconds later, Goldennight heard a concussive blast.
"Let's get going," Kuldr said, heading up the tunnel. Goldennight followed him, feeling a wave of relief wash over him as they stepped into the sunlight.
Cobra rushed over to them, the rest of the group following.
"What did you find?" Cobra asked, before he looked behind Goldennight and saw Cairo and Adder emerging.
"Found our tour guides," Goldennight said, a smile crossing his face.
"We better hurry," Acekiller said, putting an arrow to his bowstring, having restocked. "We have have to find the old kingdom so we can kill Andalt, before he finds us."
Cobra nodded and was turning to Cairo when a bone-chilling voice hissed; "It's a little too late for that, assassin. Death always follows."
