It was the director who called me and my partner into his office. He was sitting at his desk, two chairs opposite him. He motioned for me and Adam to sit down. His dark face was grave. "Special detectives Duke and Jones, you must be wondering why I have summoned you."
Yeah, I thought, with a face like that anyone would've thought the world had ended. I glanced at my partner. He was playing with his dark beard, staring at the director.Me and Adam Jones have been working with each other for about seven years as special detectives. Him always the calm, cool one. Me always the one to snap and fight. Some people say we make the "dream team" .
"There have been several killings around Oxford street including Sir Caulett's daughter, Marietta Caulett. The Lord has asked us to investigate. It is possible she is connected to these killings," said the director, "and the reason I call then "killings" is because not all of them are murders. Some are suicides. Persuaded suicides."
"Okay, so you want us to catch the criminal. Do we have any information?" Asked Adam.
"Yes it's all in the file. I'll send it up. Oh and for this mission, you will be teamed up with the twins and detective Blue. You are dismissed."Shit. Shit, shit, shit. Not Blue. Not Peter Blue. Anyone other than that useless slime bag. He is one of those boys. Perfect blond hair and blue eyes. The sort girls go crazy for. Not me. I shudder to think of him on my team. Apart from being a complete dick, he's an actual wimp. The only reason the director put him on our team is because Peter Blue is his nephew. Apparently. Scum bag.
Me and Adam walked out of his office. Once the door had shut, I whirled around, ready to rant, but Adam interrupted me. "Look, Lizzy, I know you hate Peter and so do I, but we have to stick it. If we do this well, we might get a little reward from sir wotsit." I glared at Adams brown, pleading eyes and sighed, "fine, but if he stands in front of my motobike, I cant promise you anything." He looked relieved, "thanks, liz. Hey, I'm, do you want to have dinner with me tonight, I'm ordering pizza."
Pizza was my absolute favorite. Especially Asda's fourteen inch veggie one. Call me cheap, but it's probably better than dominos. "Sure, you can drop me home after as well." I said.
He grinned and pretended to be grumpy, "oh, all right. But only 'cause it's you." He said, and winked, "come on, have you met the twins yet?"
