Miles ran through the cold, he couldn't even feel it. He couldn't feel the exhaustion either, his body was high on adrenaline again. His heart was racing, threatening to explode. His eyes stung as tears welled up in them. He ran as fast as he could, desperate for the warm embrace of his bed. He wanted to go to sleep and wake up from this nightmare. He wanted to wake up and go on a date with Taehyung, the boy who loves him.
Miles fumbled with his keys and opened the door, closing it quickly behind him.
"Miles, you're just in time! I made roast duck!" His mom called from the kitchen. Miles kicked off his boots, choosing not to respond. He ran past the kitchen and up the stairs. "Miles!?" his mother called after him.
He slammed his bedroom door shut and flung himself into bed, pulling the sheets over him like a cocoon. He heard his mother knocking on the door.
"Miles, honey, what's wrong?" she asked anxiously.
"Mom, please go away." Miles yelled in frustration. He knew she was only worried about him, but he was not in the mood for company. He heard her walking away after a brief pause. Several minutes later he heard footsteps again and the sound of a plate being set down outside the door.
"I brought you some duck...if you're hungry. I hope you'll at least eat. I love you, honey." Miles didn't respond. He heard her fussing with Charlie to leave Miles alone and not to touch the plate. His eyes travelled up and saw the picture of Taehyung. The beautiful blonde angel he had fallen in love with. Bitterness gripped Miles' heart in an instant. He got up and pulled the picture from the wall, ripping it in half. He held the torn halves and immediately regretted what he had done. The bitterness had left, leaving that awful aftertaste that comes with making impulse decisions on negative emotions. The tear had preserved most of Taehyung's face, his smile remaining untouched. Miles climbed back into bed, still holding the photo. He let the tears flow as he looked at Taehyung's smile, rubbing his thumb over it every so often. Soon he was sobbing so much he couldn't even see it. His heart was torn in half, just like the photo.

Taehyung was shoving clothes into a backpack. He frustratingly wiped at the tears that kept falling. He needed to go. Anywhere was better than here. He needed to get away from Miles. Thinking about the brunette made his heart stop. But he continued to pack, he was doing this for Miles' own good. He wouldn't understand now, maybe not ever, but Taehyung loved him enough to at least give him a chance at a normal life. He grabbed his wallet and phone and then hurried downstairs. He had intended on leaving a note but Andrea arrived just as he walked intot he living room.
"Taehyung what is it? What happened?" she asked, seeing how broken the blonde looked.
"I need time. Away from here." he replied.
"What? Why?" she asked, worry etched into her features.
"I don't want to talk about it. Just-just stay here. I'll be back eventually." He walked towards the front door.
"Taehyung, hold on!" Andrea said, but he ignored her. He pulled out earphones and started playing music, pumping the volume up loud enough to drown out the world. It was only when he reached Miles' street that he realized he had been walking this way.
He stared down the road at the house. He battled with his heart but it inevitably won, pulling him towards the house. When he was near enough he reached out with the little power he still had. He could feel Miles in the house. He stopped on the sidewalk, facing the house. He could see Miles in his mind now, the boy was in bed. His heart broke all over again seeing the brunette sobbing in his bed, holding the torn photo of Taehyung and himself. He had the most powerful urge to knock and ask to see Miles. He wanted nothing more than to slip into his bed and hold him, comfort him and tell him he's sorry. He wanted to tell Miles that he loved him and that he wanted to stay with him forever. Taehyung shook the thoughts from his head and turned around. He had broken Miles' heart and now he was going to leave him alone. It burned him but he knew he had no choice.
