"So, how's your life going on? "
" Quite interesting Bro, in fact, imma lovin' it! " the happy chirpy man chimed and gave out his inner happiness.
" Boy, you have a really good life, but you see, what you get needs to be valued as well."
The man on the other side of the phone was randomly throwing some age old dialogues of wisdom. Shivaay was trying to get along and was carefully piecing out the advices he had under his sleeves, getting old as a result of less use.
"Bro, I know what I do, well, very well" Rudra was getting impatient, wearing his expensive watch, he saw his other phone ringing urgently. It was Omkara.
"Bro, got an official call to attend, love you and would talk to you later" and as he was planting a kiss on his phone to reach to his brother, he got a minor spank behind his head.
"What's so official about this call Rudy? " Shivaay was standing in person behind Rudra, gazing hardly on the flashing screen of his phone, displaying 'Omkara'.
" Bhaiya, you know it.... it...... "
" Stop stammering Rudra, just take that call..... I'd go..... I'd just.... "
" No, you need to listen to this conversation, I think you've even forgotten how his voice sounds.... "
Rudra picked up the call, kept it on speaker, and saw Shivaay turning his gaze away from him, he knew there were some tears, who were being disobedient and just came out of his brother's cold eyes.
" Hey O, how's you? All doing well? " Rudra tried to ease the thick air.
" Ya, all ok, except one thing, you know" and Shivaay felt a sharp arrow pierce his heart, his inner fire aggravated by the dry laugh Omkara gave.
" Guess what O, I've got someone listening to this call, you wanna know who's that? "
" Rudy, there's someone here as well, listening this convo " and with that Gauri gave an addressal.
" Hi Rudra! "
" Hey Gauri di, how's you? "Shivaay felt some relief thrown to him by the female voice. At least Om has got someone to cherish, finally.
The random laughs of Omkara on the call, were supposed to be an anger quotient for Shivaay, though he was surprised that he actually felt good after hearing him laugh once or twice. Somewhere deep in his heart, Om was not the only person he kept blaming, he had some accusations reserved for himself too.Rudra knew what all that call had brought back to his brother. He knew he had increased the coldness, though his intentions meant something else. Shivaay was standing near the window, and looked back when he realized that the call had ended.
" It seems he's happy in his own little world. "
" No bhaiya, he isn't, all that he does, is pretending. "
" So he still has his inner talent left, at least he's using it for some good. Pretentiousness has been his strong point. " Shivaay's words were dripping of dark humour.
" Well, you don't seem to flinch at all, but don't you think, life is too short to hate everything and everybody? When we'd die, we won't be having the time to love anyone. And when there's time, we don't want to. "
Shivaay turned around, looking at Rudra with the same hard eyes he laid on the phone some minutes back.
" I see everything as a negative entity, because everyone has a piece of Devil in them, and if someone defies that assumption, would certainly earn my respect. " He remembered Annika, and that seemed to prove his statement right.
" And the biggest mistake you do with this, is that you never grab the last chance. Am afraid that you'd end up regretting this some day, and believe me, it would be terrible." Rudra's words killed all the conviction in Shivaay's words.Rudra gave him a quick hug, and taking up his ringing phone, left a perplexed Shivaay alone in his grand room.
What Rudra said, could it be true in Annika's case too? Would he just deny his love for her and let go of the only opportunity? Rarely did Shivaay know, what the things would turn out in their future.
............................Despite of all his good looks and decked up bank balance, Rudra was just another youngster when it came to bad pranks. He was well known for his mischievous tint, and that certainly was an integral part of his personality.
He used to play the prank game on Amaya a lot, to the extent that Shivaay had spanked him once or twice for exceeding the limits. Everyone thought he had a particular grudge for Amaya, the one and foremost pillar and friend of Shivaay, but it actually was his own way of expressing his silent adoration for the charming and wistful Amaya. Not that Amaya hated his pranks and disapproved of him, she too held adoration for him at some distant corner. Both of them were always together when Rudra used to come to the Oberoi office, their closeness facilitating the employees to cook up some random spicy tales of their relationship. Amaya didn't heed them anyway, and Rudra only bothered for Amaya and Shivaay.
This pseudo-existing love story of Amaya and Rudra was always the talk of the times, until Shivaay's shouting on somebody and the rest of the office, talking about it. Though, all this was enjoyable for Rudy, Amaya quite hated the unasked attention she got. She was always happy in being a nobody, getting attention only on some selected formal parties of Shivaay, as his beloved friend and his best employee. Indeed she was the only one, who had the audacity to shout on Shivaay, and be totally frank to him. She had a charisma and a charm, which had always hit Shivaay, making him think how well she managed to placate him.
Rudra was not the hard hearted one, he had hopelessly fallen for Amaya. She acknowledged his attention, and going out of her character, she actually had her smitting smile on, when Rudra dragged her to one of his parties. It seemed she loved his company too, but her shaded feelings were hard to be judged. She was serious, was happy to mind her own business and was happy only when she had a reason to be. And of course, she was the only one, who could make Shivaay smile.Rudra's feelings made Amaya feel special, her interest in Rudra was more than Shivaay. She was not a money-hungry chick, Shivaay had actually proposed her once, after the Radhika tragedy for she had helped him conquer the loneliness. His parents too thought her to be the perfect one, but she refused. She was of the opinion, that marriage should be based on love, and she clearly didn't love Shivaay. Rudra had seen her helping his brother in his tough times, so he held huge respect for her. This was good, and all he did to please her, were hitting the right point. She was falling for him too, enjoying his anecdotes and intelligent conversations. The funny things he did to her, further increased the stringing of the chords of her heart, and she was on the verge of expressing her feelings. Rudra had been vocal about it, he introduced her as his future wife in all the parties he attended. People thought it to be a joke, but he was being honest. He indeed was adamant to make her his own.
