Chapter 18: Perfect boy

Environmental Sciences was very close to home. Like ten minutes walk. Same as the distance I had to travel into highschool, so nothing much changed. But, Telecommunications Science was almost one hour away of walking and there was no direct bus from my place to there. The day I had to get my schedules, I decided going to Environmental Sciences school first, and then to the other one.

When I reached the building, my hearth leaped with joy at the sight of many freshmen fumbling with papers and pens, crowding around announcement panels or asking for direction. A door opened opposite to the panel which held our schedule and a young man exited.

"Everyone please pay attention. If you are in the first year of college, please come in. There are some forms you need to fill in order to register." He spoke loudly over the buzzing conversations that took place all around the area.

Soon after I filled in some forms the faculty required, I looked up and saw a few girls sitting in the room with me, filling the same forms. Their eyes met mine as we all checked each other out. Eventually, I dropped my gaze to have another look at the information I wrote before standing up and placing the paper on the stack indicated by the young chatty guide. It was the same guy I met when I applied at the beginning of summer.

"You are the one with green strands of hair, right?" I blinked, surprised he recognized me.

"Yeah. That's me. But no more greens. That was just a summer look." I grinned at him and tilted my head. He looked over my form and commented: "Hmm... you finished a highschool of the same profile. That's very interesting. Most people who registered had no previous knowledge of nature sciences. The first year should be super easy for you as you probably already know everything that will be taught."

"Oh, that's perfect then! I also registered in another university and I will have to learn everything from scratch there."

"Two universities at once... good luck with that!" He smiled genuinely at me.

"Thanks, I'll need it."

"Well, see you around. I'll be your teacher for geology."

I smiled back at him this time and blurted out before I could stop myself. "Are all teachers here this young?"

"Most of them are. Environmental Sciences are a newly developed field and therefore you won't encounter old teachers." He answered with a chuckle, not at all bothered by my question.

When I stepped outside, I didn't immediately depart; I stood around to look at posters, curious to find out more about college life and making scenarios for my future. It was probably because of these scenarios that I found myself joining in the conversation of the girls I previously saw in the classroom.

"Sorry to interfere, I heard you talking about looking for a cafe nearby. I'm a local and therefore I know places. If you want, I could should you around. My name's Pheobe."

"Hi Pheobe. I'm Nicole." The shoulder length red-haired girl with thick eyebrows and red earrings extended her hand.

The other girls followed suit. I didn't immediately remember all of their names, but after a cappuccino and a creamed filled cookie, I managed to put a face for each name. Anny was the curly brown-haired shorty with her long locks always loose and a high pitched voice. Amelia was a quiet girl, with chestnut-brown short hair and a figure that didn't stand out as much as the others. Ariel's long dark hair was pulled in a high pony tail and her nose seemed a bit bigger than average.
