Nothing could be heard in the silent room as Emma pinned the paper on the club board. She stepped back to read it again before giving a satisfied nod. Checking her watch, the bell rang, and the once silent room began to fill with chatter as kids filed in. Someone walked up, noticing the new paper immediately.
"You're starting a club?" The girl asked Emma after scanning the paper. Emma nodded, and the girl smiled. "Great, I'll try to come!" She pulled one of the pieces of paper off the bottom before hurrying off to grab lunch. Emma followed her, deciding to eat a bit and come back. She didn't expect much from the club, but she had hope. Not many new clubs start in Howlester High. She peacefully ate her lunch with her two distant friends before finishing and going over to check the club board again.
She was shocked to find that there were no slips left. Maybe someone was messing with her? She quickly pulled out a second paper and pinned it up, and a few kids came up immediately.
"Thank goodness!" Someone said, "I thought I didn't have a chance to join!"
"Oh, nope, everyone has a chance to join. I'm Emma, you are?" Emma replied, tentatively smiling at the girl, still believing this was all just a prank.
"Oh, I'm Lila. Nice to meet you!" Lila grinned. "Well, I think we'll be seeing each other later. I have to get to class!" Emma was so amazed at the turnout so far that she hadn't realized the bell had rung. She rushed to grab her bag and pinned up an extra paper just in case before rushing off to class.

After school, Emma ran down to the cafeteria to check the sheets. Both sheets had no paper slips left! Each paper had 10 slips on it, so that meant 30 people had signed up for the club.
"I can't believe it..." Emma mumbled under her breath, taking down the two papers and putting up one more. She swung her bag over her shoulder, checking her watch and rushing to Ms. Pentland's classroom. Ms. Pentland had kindly donated her English classroom to PKN club and Emma couldn't be more thankful.
Emma finally made it to the classroom, pinning a sign to the front door.
PKN club!
To enter, you:
-must be nice (no snakes)
-stan Mr. Howell and Mr. Lester
-come to meetings as often as possibleOther than that, have fun!
Emma then entered the room to find one or two people already there.
"Oh! Hi!" She said, catching the students' attention. "I'm Emma, who are you guys?"
"I'm Luc," One of the girls said, a British accent heard easily from her voice.
"And I'm Katie," another said, smiling at Emma and pushing her hair back.
"I'm--" before the third girl could say her name, someone else walked in. Emma turned around.
"Lila!" Emma remembered, and Lila smiled.
"Hey guys!" Lila said, going to one of the seats in the middle. The five talked and got to know each other, and five people turned to six, six to seven, seven to ten, and so on. This was turning out to be better than expected.
