Cloverkit snuggled against her mother's fur as the new daylight shined into the nursery. She felt the rise and fall of her Sandfire's belly combined with the snores of her sister, Petalkit and sighed in content. This is how things would be for some of her time, for the next 3 moons. The other kits in the nursery were younger than Cloverkit, and she felt supreme over them. Cloverkit felt that this was how to live, for some time.

A yawn broke out outside from the silence. Cloverkit looked over her shoulder, seeing a white tom with light ginger patches and blue eyes. "Daddy!" She mewed with extreme excitement, bounding toward him.

"Cloverkit," he mewed, "what have I told you about making so much noise?" He motioned toward the nursery.

Cloverkit looked over her shoulder and saw Bluefern's kits starting to rouse, one up and pawing at Bluefern for milk. Cloverkit drooped her head and ears. "S-Sorry, dad." She mewed, her voice squeaking in a bit of shame.

Her father laid her tail on her shoulder. "Hey, don't feel bad. When I was a kit I was much too happy to see my father. You know Shrewwillow, right?" Cloverkit frowned a bit. Shrewwillow is mean. She thought with a hint of disgust. Why is Cloudstorn so happy he was HIS father? Regardless, Cloverkit shook the feelings and thoughts out. "Yeah," she mumbled, "he's okay."

Cloudstorm sighed. "I know he can be tough, Cloverkit. But he's trying, he really is. Being an elder isn't easy either, and it's certainly not easy when the Clan loses a cat." That was true, and Cloverkit knew it. She had watched some warriors die, like her mother's father, Shadedpelt who had died from a fight with ShadowClan. Shrewwillow was on of the elders who took him for the Clan ritual.

Cloverkit sighed, trying to brighten up. "So what are you going to do today?" She asked with bright eyes, as if she had forgotten the talk.

Cloudstorm smiled. "Oh, just the usual: hunt, patrol. But I can hang out with you and your mother today, too." He lowered his head to touch noses with Cloverkit.

Cloverkit's eyes brightened with joy. Finally! I won't have to listen to Petalkit squeal for him now. Cloverkit looked around. Where IS Petalkit?

As she looked around, Cloverkit felt Cloudstorm's tail lift. "Well," he meowed, "I have to go with Freezinglight on a patrol. I'll see you later, Cloverkit!" Cloverkit watched as Cloudstorm left to catch up with Freezinglight. For a heartbeat, they looked as if they were close.. and Cloudstorm seemed rather friendly. But Cloverkit shook her head. I must be seeing things.

Cloverkit heard a rustling behind her. Looking back, her eyes widened as she saw two tom-kits rushing toward her. StarClan's sake what are those two up to now?!

"Bristlekit, give the mossball back!"

"Ha! Make me!"

Cloverkit backed up two pawsteps before she was tumbled into a pile of kits, her on the bottom. "Get off, Sedgekit!" She growled, heaving the two smaller kits off.

"It's not my fault!" Sedgekit meowed, "Bristlekit cheated!"

Bristlekit looked smoothly over at Sedgekit. "Did not! You were at Bluefern's tail and she flicked you over. So I took the chance of taking it while you two were bickering."

Cloverkit rolled her eyes. "That is cheating, Bristlekit." Cloverkit stood up, her white fur messy and tangled from the "kit pile".

Bristlekit smiled dumbly at her. "Well, I wouldn't know," he responded, "You're the oldest, after all. You and Petalkit." He padded away, the mossball hanging from his jaws.

Sedgekit looked at Cloverkit. "Don't listen to him," he remarked, "he just needs to get the bees out of his brains. He'll lighten up soon, we can only hope." Sedgekit then took off after Bristlekit, with a flurry of yowls.

Cloverkit sighed, and padded back into the den. As she approached, she felt a pair of eyes on her. She looked back, seeing two blue eyes staring at her like a fox. Suddenly, the pair of eyes turned into a gray and white she-kit pouncing ontop of her. "Ack!" Cloverkit fell over and landing with a thump.

"Hehe," the she-kit giggled, "You should see your face, Cloverkit! You look so shocked!"

Cloverkit got up. "Petalkit," she mewed hoarsely, "why do you always scare me like that?" Cloverkit shook her fur free of dust.

Petalkit smiled and nudged Cloverkit. "Because you always have the weirdest reaction!" She looked toward the den. "But let's go inside. Sandfire wants us to come in for a nap." Petalkit bounded into the nursery den without another word spoken. Sighing, Cloverkit followed.

I guess it's for the best.
