Her eyes are winter nights, her hair is April rain. Maybe I'll never make sense of this world, but one thing I know is that I can make sense of her. The flames that reside in her eyes, the fluidity of her motion. Perfection is never a word that crossed my mind before tonight, as I think about her. Like the flames that reside in her eyes, she resides in my mind, burning away every sensible thought and making me feel numb. I never understood how people could say that they feel a 'spark' with someone, because what burns in my chest now is far from that. It consumes every fibre of my being until I can scarcely breathe or think at all. I guess love is a funny thing, and I've got a lot to learn, but what I know now is that I'm content. I don't need happiness if I can only avoid the bad.  After all, there are only two states in this world, kill or be killed, and as much as I hate to say, some people are born athletes. Some people are built to survive, whilst others have to work a hell of a lot harder for happiness. But I'd never run when I can walk. I'd never work for happiness when it's so easily gifted to me. Not only in Lexa, but in our two beautiful children too... I guess I must be crazy to say that happiness isn't something I aim for, but trust me, all the best people are crazy...

"Hey, what are you writing there Sky Girl?" Lexa's voice filled Clarke's ears, so softly that she barely heard it at all. Although Clarke couldn't ever forget that voice, it was the same voice that she heard every morning and every night. The same gentle sound that had driven her past every nightmare and spurred her through every failure.

The blonde girl quickly shook her head and a smile found its way to her lips as she closed the journal in front of her, placing two slender hands on top of it. The smile lingered on her lips for a moment and it was clear that happiness was finally something that she had grown accustomed to. Although Clarke was painfully aware that it was mostly due to Lexa's presence in the room with her.

"Don't worry about it, it was nothing of importance." She said as she was met with a curious look from Lexa. Her green eyes fixed on the blonde girl and once again Clarke felt her body relax under the brunette's gaze. Lexa always made her feel calmer; safer in some way. Although Clarke knew the feeling was mutual as she gazed into Lexa's eyes and saw a content and relaxed look in them, which mirrored her own.

"Well, considering that you're in no mood to share with me. Dinner is ready." Lexa whispered, her tone firm yet respectful as her lips pressed softly to Clarke's temple, making the blonde girl shiver slightly. Clarke's chest swelled with a white-hot feeling at Lexa's touch and it made her faint smile grow wider, causing the dimples at the corners of her mouth to deepen.

It was clear that the impact of time had scarcely changed either girl's feeling towards one another.

"Uh... hello?" Lexa chimed in a perplexed tone, snapping Clarke out of her daydream. The blonde girl let out an abrupt laugh and shoved Lexa playfully, getting to her feet. Clarke felt her fingertips tingle slightly where they'd grazed Lexa's skin, a sensation that she knew she'd never get used to. Or stop craving.

"Okay, okay. I'm coming. I swear you think about food more than you think about me sometimes." Clarke groaned with a sapphire roll of her eyes. Lexa tried her best to sound surprised.

"Actually you're wrong. It goes: The kids, food, blood and death, that new sexy stable girl, THEN you." Lexa gesticulated every word with her hands, almost as though she were speaking through her body language. Clarke almost forgot to listen to her words, too mesmerised by the woman in front of her.

An indignant gaze fell across Clarke's face at the poor joke, as she raised an eyebrow at her lover. "Excuse me who? Sexy stable girl?" Lexa laughed at this and scurried back away from Clarke playfully. To which Clarke awarded her another eye-roll.

The blonde girl effortlessly cleared the space between them both, a smirk upon her coral lips. Her tone became hushed, scarcely louder than a whisper as her breath lavished over Lexa's cheek, warm and sultry. The blonde girl leaned right into Lexa's ear, making sure to gently trail her lips along the Commander's exposed skin as she went.
"Your stable girl rides horses, but she'll never know what it feels like to ride..." she trailed off as her hand found Lexa's fingers, gently caressing them and stroking them. Lexa's entire body melted under Clarke's words and touch, as she stood there, completely immobilised and unable to move. All Lexa could hear was the pounding of her own heartbeat in her ears, as she struggled to find words.

Then, just like that, Clarke pulled back, and her facial expression altered once again to a happy and consistent smile. The look on the blonde's face was one of innocence, as though nothing happened. Meanwhile Lexa still struggled to gulp air back into her heaving lungs.

"So, dinner?" Clarke chimed as she headed towards the door. The dim candlelight flickered upon her face as she turned to look back to Lexa, illuminating her smile further, and making it all the more difficult for Lexa to draw breath.

"I...uh- yes! Dinner, right..." she fumbled for words, her face crimson. Although Lexa thanked the gods for the dim lighting in the room, as she didn't want Clarke to see how flushed she'd made her. Lexa took a moment to compose herself, brushing a hand back through her hair.

"It's your favourite, the kids picked it-" Lexa barely had chance to exhale the words before a timid voice echoed down the corridor outside.
"Mama, is mommy coming?" A squeaky voice chimed, only just loud enough to distinguish as their youngest.
Clarke looked between the door and Lexa before chuckling: "Looks like I'm wanted. You coming?" She said softly, her eyes flickering in the candlelight. Although they also flickered with admiration.

Lexa nodded, watching Clarke head out of the room to tend to the tentative child waiting outside. Lexa could faintly hear Clarke's voice through the old oak door frames.
"It's alright Amelia, mama is on her way. What did you guys choose tonight huh?" The voices grew fainter and fainter as they walked along the corridor, leaving Lexa alone with the sound of her own heartbeat and faint footsteps.

The brunette couldn't help but exude euphoria in her smile, clearly the happiest she had felt in a long time.
She took a confident step to the candle burning and exhaled in a single sharp breath, plunging the room into darkness.

Well hello there dear readers! How long has it been? Three years. Wow, what a ride. I did NOT expect the attention that this story has gotten and I want to say that I am so grateful to all those who read, enjoyed, and wanted more of "Blood Must Have Blood". It's been a long few years but I am back, and ready to continue this journey with you all.

I will stress that I haven't watched The 100 since *SPOILERS* Lexa's death, and therefore have no idea what is going on in the series. Therefore I want this story to focus more on the relationship of Clarke and Lexa, and how it has blossomed. I appreciate all of your patience and I really hope you enjoy this story, as I am very rusty as a writer hahah.

Thank you guys for reading x
