How it Starts

Jamie woke up and yawned loudly it was only 7:30 in the morning "Big day a head of me" she mumbled before getting out of bed a walking over to her closest "What to wear-" she was cut off by her phone ringing "Who could be calling me this early?". Jamie thought to herself as she walked back to her dresser picking up her phone "Hello?" she said, she waited for an answer "Hey Jamie it's me Sarah, did you forget to look at the caller ID before answering the phone again?" Jamie chuckled as she heard Sarah's sassy little comment " How'd you know also, why are you up so early and calling me?" Jamie asked with a giant smile on her face as she heard Sarah stutter trying to come up with an answer "w-well you see I" Sarah stopped short trying not to sound like an stupid "Sarah you have to relax I know you have work at nine" they both shared a short laugh before Sarah broke the silence "You excited for your new job?" Jamie smiled softly "Yeah I guess you could say that but, speaking about jobs you have one to get to shortly so I suggest you go get ready." Sarah sighed loudly before speaking "I guess you're right but call me later, alright?" Jamie frowned " I don't know if I'll have time but I'll try." She said before hanging up. Jamie walked over to her closet again deciding what to wear "I should make a good impression for my first day.." she thought to her while grabbing a black skirt and a white button up shirt. She got changed and finished getting ready before making her way downstairs "Now the next challenge.... breakfast" she sighed not wanting to cook this early so she just grabbed some cereal poured it in a bowl along with some milk then made her way to the kitchen table, she eat her cereal while scrolling through her phone liking every post. After she finished she walked back and put her bowl in the sink "Shoot I'm gonna be late" She grabbed all her things and rushed to her car, she sat down a groaned loudly as she was getting another phone call probably gonna be asking where she is "Hello" She said with a little bit of sass in her voice "Everything alright babe?" She smiled softly after hearing her boyfriends voice "Peachy but, I'm on my way to our date right now sorry that I may be running a little late" She frowned hoping he wouldn't be upset "Yeah don't worry about I am also running a little late that's why I called" She laughed "Connor you're gonna be late for once, woah what have you done with my actual boyfriend?" Connor didn't sound to please with himself so Jamie tried to lighten the mood but could tell herself it wasn't working out to well "That's a great question" he said softy "Just try to be here in the next ten minutes, you know I have work to do." Jamie sighed "Yes sir" she hung up her phone and drove out of her driveway, on to the road. Jamie turned up the radio while driving to the café to meet up her boyfriend that she wasn't actually excited to see at all she could feeling something bad coming, she was nervous she didn't need this on her first day at all. While pulling into the café she could she her boyfriend leaning on his car watching her as she pulled in, Jamie parked and took a deep breath before stepping out to face her boyfriend "Hey babe" She gave a soft smiling hugging tightly "Hey Jamie.." Connor said softly not even giving a hug back to her, Jamie pulled back and frowned " I knew this was coming I could feel it on the way over her" She sighed trying to hold back tears "I'm sorry Jamie... it's just not working out, we barely spend any time together now and you're starting a new job tonight which means I won't be able to see you at all, I love you I do it's just I think we should see other people" Connor rubbed the back of his head looking down trying not to show his emotions. Jamie let a single tear rolled down her cheek "I understand but, you have no clue what you just did cause you just made the biggest mistake of your life." She stormed off back to her car leaving Connor in shocked of what she just said to him she felt bad but she wouldn't let the emotions get to her. Jamie got back in her car, started it and immediately sped off down the street not looking back, she had a job to get ready for she didn't have time for this nonsense drama, she was just starting a new chapter in her life and she wasn't going to let anyone ruin that for her. Once Jamie got home she rushed back into her house and called Sarah "Pick up... pick up" She kept mumbling to herself till she heard a piolet "Hello?" Jamie smiled softly "You have no clue how nice it is to hear a friendly voice" She said in relieve waiting for a response "Is everything okay?" Sarah said worriedly " Yah you know it's not like Connor just broke up with me or anything..." Jamie sighed loudly trying not to let any tears roll down her face since she know she was stronger than this "Need me to come over for a bit?" Sarah said softly "I wanna try to make you feel better before work" a smile lit up Jamie's face "I'd love that I'll see you soon then, just let yourself in when you get here" She hung the phone while walking to the kitchen, she grabbed two wine glasses and a bottle of wine then made her way back to he living room. She sat down and poured the wine into the glasses right before the door opened "Perfect timing" Jamie stood up and hugged Sarah "Drinks are already poured" Sarah and her went sat down on the couch a few minutes went by before anything was said "Are you okay, Jamie?" Sarah said quietly looking at her with a nervous look on her face "Peachy babe just peachy" Jamie let a small laugh out looking back at her "This is probably for the best plus being single is great, right?" Sarah smiled "It can be but hey I'm sure you be locked up in the next few weeks, you're irresistible" She laughed tucking a piece of hair behind Jamie's ear then checked her watch " I hate to leave you like this but, my break ends at 1:00 I have to get back I'll call you later" Sarah gather up her bag and coat before walking out to go back to work. Jamie looked at the clock "12:55 great..." you could hear the sarcasm in her voice, she laid down on the couch and closed her eyes slowing drifting off to sleep. A few hours later Jamie shot up to the sound of her phone ringing "Hello?" she answered without looking at the caller ID again "Hey Jamie it's Sarah I just wanted to remind you that your new job starts in 15 minutes so go if you already haven't" She looked at the time and mumbled "Fuck.. alright Sarah call me later and thank you, you're a job saver" Jamie hung up the phone and quickly cleaned herself up right before bolting to her car and taking off to her new job.
