Today I have my first session of Hemodialysis. I'm scared, I always hated needles. The nurse that is taking care of me is kind, her name is Mia. To my left I can see an elderly woman, she smiles at me. We start talking.

It is a new day today, a little bit less gloomy. It's Mia's shift again, she greets me with a smile. I'm not scared of needles anymore. The elderly woman's name is Ann. We always talk to each other. I like her.

Ann is not here today, her booth is empty. I ask Mia about it. Her eyes are sad. She tells me Ann didn't make it. The room feels cold today.
