"Hey Parker, time to get up bud!" My eyes slowly fluttered open to a small stream of light coming in through my curtains. I turned over to look at the clock on my bedside table. 6:30am. "Ugh," I gave a short moan. "First day of school!" My dad exclaimed way too excitedly. Today was my first day at Beavercreek High School. To most kids, the first day would be terrifying because they wouldn't know anybody. That's not my case. I moved here in about mid-July just in time to go to band camp. I made quite a few new friends there, and right now I'm just hoping they'll want to talk to me during school. Slowly I rolled out of bed and stumbled into my bathroom. I washed my face and brushed my shaggy brown hair out of my eyes. I looked into the mirror at the small, yet noticeable scar over my left eye. I brushed my teeth and headed into my room to get ready for the day. I threw my jeans and black converse onto my bed and ducked into my closet to find a shirt. I pulled a 'Red Hot Chili Peppers' t-shirt out of a box and threw it at my bed. I took of my sleepwear and slipped my clothes on for school. I put the silver dog tag necklace my mother gave me around my neck. "I'll make it to the moon if I have to crawl." She loved that. My mother passed away in a car accident last year. That's also where I got my scar. I flew through the windshield, which is what the doctor said saved me. My mom got caught in her seat belt. I miss her a lot. That's why my dad and I moved to Beavercreek. He wanted to get a new start on life, which for me mean leaving all my friends in Pearl City behind. 'Knock knock.' My dad stepped into the room. "Time to go bud, I left a pop tart on the counter for you." He looked at me with his once joy filled blue eyes. I walked over and gave him a hug. He smiled, "first day of Sophomore year. Are you excited?" I shrugged "I guess; I mean I'm excited for band." Dad laughed, "I know you are. I'll see you tonight." With that he walked out the door. I put on deodorant, then grabbed my backpack and went downstairs to the kitchen. I picked up the pop tart and my set of house keys. I then walked outside, locked the door and headed to my bus stop. I sat down on a bench and slipped my ear buds into my ears and patiently waited for my bus to arrive.
