*Fallen Angel is a song by Three Days Grace.*
'Late at night i could hear the crying.'
Dawn layed silent, her boyfriend, Nick, seemed upset, not quite crying but he seemed like he might be close. He was sniffling and he sat with his knees over the side of the mattress, feet on the floor staring at his hands. Dawn thought about turning around and asking if he was okay but she knew he wanted to be alone.
'I hear it all, trying to fall asleep.'
Dawn stared blankly at the wall trying to decide whether or not she wanted to tell him that its okay, that he was okay. But she knew a part of him wouldn't want her to do so, while the other is hoping shes awake to hear him.
'When all the love around you is dying.'
Dawn sat up, and turned to face him. He didn't even notice as the bed shifted and she got closer to him.
"Hey." She said, in a whisper putting her hand on his.
He looked up at her, his eyes were puffy and red, most likely from crying.
"Hi." He mumbled under his breath squeezing her hand lightly.
'How did you stay so strong? How did you hide it all for so long?'
"Are you okay?" She askes, turning her entire body to face him while sitting beside him.
"Yea. Im fine." He mumbled averting his gaze to the corner if the room.
"I know your lieing, Nick." Dawn stood up and grabbed his face in her hands and had him look at her.
'How can i take the pain away?'
Nick seemed surprised that she was still trying.
"Why won't you tell me?" Dawns smile faultered as she brought her hands down from his face and stood infront of him.
He looked down at the ground not wanting to look her in the face.
"Can I help you? You don't have to be alone you know. I'm here if you need somebody." She stood there for a second and watched a tear run down his face.
'How can I save a fallen angel, never thought you'd fall so far.'
"Nick." Dawn lowered her voice, and sat down beside him.
"Do you need a hug?" She asked him, opening her arms.
He wouldn't admit that he needed one but when she hugged him he hugged back.
"You're not alone. You'll never be alone. Im always here." She let go of the hug, and soon after he did too.
'Fallen angel close your eyes. I won't let you fall tonight.'
"Can we lay back down now?" Dawn asked and Nick shrugged his shoulders and looked at her with a small smile on his face.
Dawn smiled back as she got back into her spot, and watched to see what he would do.
"Can we talk? For just a bit." Nick asked and layed down, his head on her lap.
"Yea. What do you want to talk about?" Dawn asked him, smilling as she played with his hair.
'You do it all for my own protection.'
They talked for quite a bit, about what was troubling him, as well as many other things. Dawn noticed him nodding off after a while.
"Are you tired?" Dawn asked, making a voice you would use on a puppy.
"No, im not tired." Nick said, seemingly annoyed by her tone.
'You make me feel like I'll be okay'
As time went on Nick nodded off more and more until finally he just fell asleep, with his head now on her stomach as she decided she was going to lay down because the sitting position was hurting her back. Dawn continued playing with his hair, kind of as her own way to let him know she was still there and he was okay.
Dawn tried to fall asleep as well, but she was having some problems being able to. She couldn't help but wonder why he didn't want to tell her what was wrong from the beginning. Why did he decide to stay up and fight it alone rather than asking for help. She ended up playing some games on her phone while trying to feel tired.
'Still I have so many questions. How do you stay so strong?'
Dawn stared at his resting face, as he hadn't even seemed to move since he fell asleep. She realized she was staring and that that was probably kind of creepy so she quickly found something else to look at in the room. It was dark, and hard to see what all was in the room but she could see a little bit from the moonlight coming in through the window.
She decided she was going to try to fall asleep again, and she closed her eyes hoping she could finally fall asleep.
