It's been two weeks since I've been at school. I've forgiven Everett even if what he did was really wrong. I know he's truly a good person, to me at least. We've been playing board games like usual, exploring too. It's been pretty fun but something feels weird in the pit of my stomach. I keep seeing things, ghosts, or people from the past as Everett calls them. He protects me from them, he says they can't hurt me. I've been way sleepier than usual but it's hard to fall asleep. I haven't ate in forever, I'm just not hungry. I'm not trying to starve myself, my dad thinks I am though. He wants me to have dinner with him and discuss all my "problems." He acts like he cares but obviously he doesn't. If he cared then I wouldn't have to go to school. I'm listening to music right now, waiting for the day to pass by. I should be at school right now but my dad doesn't know that. I've either pretended to go or said I was sick. I heard a knock on my door, uh oh. Everett doesn't knock, he just appears. It must be my dad.
"Hazel, open up."
I pretended to cough,
"I don't feel well."
He opened the door anyways,
"You haven't been to school in two weeks! What is going on?"
"I don't like it there. It's boring and they bully me."
"What do you mean they bully you?"
I rolled my eyes,
"That is so you! A normal parent would just take their kid out of school if they were being bullied. But you ask me to define bullying."
"You have to go to school, if you don't we will have to get involved with social services and the police. You don't want to have to go through that do you?"
"No, I guess not."
"Promise me you'll go to school then."
"Fine, I'll go. But I won't enjoy it."
"Good."
He shut my door and walked away. Great, now I have to deal with hell again. School is the worst. Leah stopped bullying me but the homework is endless and I can't stand sitting through another class. I'd rather sit at home and listen to music or play games with Everett. Anything is better then school. But I promised my dad I would go.
The next day...
I never went to sleep but I felt like I was waking up, it was 7:00 am. I have school today. I crafted an outfit and checked it in the mirror, perfect. Then I brushed my hair and went downstairs. As I walked down the hall I felt a hand clasp around my mouth and drag me into another room. I struggled and tried to yell but I couldn't.
"Hey, Hazel calm down. It's okay, it's just me." Everett said calmly.
He let go of my mouth and turned me around to face him.
"Everett what are you doing?"
"Sorry," he blushed, "stay with me, please?" He begged. "We can play board games, I'll even let you win."
"Everett, I promised my dad I'd go to school today."
"Oh come on, they won't miss you for another day. Please?" He practically whined.
"Okay fine, but I have to go tomorrow, okay?"
"Okay."
He grabbed my hand and walked me to my room. We played board games the whole day. I told him not to let me win though, I like winning fairly. My dad assumed I had went to school, little to his knowledge I was playing games the whole day. Halfway through one of the games Everett got up to get a glass of water. When he came back there was a panicked look in his eyes.
