Chapter 4

Emerald POV

Nicole, me and Melisa entered the class room and the first person I saw standing there was none other than the guy who came to the cafe yesterday.

Whispering in my ear Nicole told me that he was the new guy of whom Melisa was talking about.

As the bell rang I took my seat and our teacher told us about the new guy, his name was 'Xavier'. Xavier...I repeated his name like a mantra in my mind but then I was laughing to myself thinking of how foolish I was.

Coming back to Xavier he stood there confidentially with his signature smirk plastered to his face.

I noticed his expression and guess what? He was looking straight towards me. I quickly dropped my gaze and started shuffling pages through my notebook.

The chair next to me moved, I saw who it was and BOOM! Xavier was sitting right beside me. I wish he doesn't talk to me now...1.2.3..
Hey there! Damn this day couldn't get any worse.

"Hi" I said with a small smile.

"I'm Xavier, what's your name? " he said while stretching his hand for a handshake.

" I'm Emerald. " I felt like current pass through me when I accepted his handshake. We both looked at each other, maybe he felt it too, I thought.

Sitting next to him the whole day was really distracting, he looked so fine like a Greek God and his presence made me feel so many things.

Soon the day was over and I was biding goodbyes to my friends as I was heading towards the cafe now. Walking through the hallway I heard someone calling my name, I stopped in my tracts and turned around to find none other than Xavier who was now jogging towards me.

"Hey Emerald" he said shyly scratching his neck.

"Hi there, what's up? " I asked with a confused look as to why did he stop me.

"Can I walk you home if you don't mind" he spoke still blushing like a little kid.

"Umm I'm going to the cafe actually, next time maybe? "

With a loud clap he said that it was perfect because he was hungry and in a mood for a long walk. Fine I said laughing and we started heading towards the cafe.
The distance to the cafe was pretty long so he told me about himself. He used to live in Texas with his father before moving here (Boston).

He said he was good at skateboarding and loved playing football too which 'for me' was quite impressive because I always wanted to learn skateboarding but I was pretty bad at it.

I told him about my hobbies too that I was good at sketching and sometimes used to sing too.

At first he watched me with an amused look and when I asked him what was wrong , he gave a soft chuckle and told me that he'd love to accompany me in my concerts if I ever become a singer. I asked him why would he do that and the next few words he spoke were shocking.

"I'll accompany you because the girls at your concert would get swoon by my looks so they'd pay more and would never miss your concerts," he said winking at me.

I started at him for a minute and then burst out laughing and later he joined too.

We talked about many things and soon we reached the cafe and there he took his usual spot where I saw him for the first time.

He still looked so mesmerizing, shaking off those thoughts I began to make batter for my cup cakes.

I was busy in the kitchen when the door bell chimed and revealed an over excited Mellisa.

"Hey Mell wassup, what are you doing here at this time?"

EMMAA!! she shouted out on top of her lungs making everyone look in our direction including Xavier. I held her arm and dragged her with me inside the kitchen.

"What are you so excited about?" I asked.

"Remember Jason our hot senior, who is famous for his parties? Well he has invited us this time and we are going too! Get ready by 7:30pm i'll come to pick you up."

"You and Nic can go, I ain't coming. You already know I don't like these parties", I said with a shrug.

"No wayyyy Emmy you are coming!! I don't know and I don't care whether you don't wanna come because this time I'm not giving you any option to miss this party."

"Fine fine i'm coming", I said grumbling.

"YAY!" she let out a loud shriek.

As Melisa was about to leave she spotted Xavier sitting there using his cellphone.

She turned towards me and wriggling her eyebrows asked, "what's up with you two huh? I see love is in the air" she chuckled and left when I gave her a deadly glare.

Working at cafe was always very hectic sometimes, as people rushed in at evening hours mostly.

I still had some pretty good amount of time to get ready for the party and I had even asked Mrs Chris that I would be leaving early today. She had told me that I could leave early and I hugged her.

Xavier and I left the cafe together and I asked him whether he would like to join us at the party as he was new and would have a great time to which he agreed easily.

As soon as I let out these words, I was regretting them. Not that I didn't like him but because his presence made me feel vulnerable and I was afraid because I haven't felt like this before. Soon we went to our separate ways and I started getting ready for the party as Mel would be arriving in no time.
