A/N: Jesus, this took me forever. But I finished! Yes! I'm so proud of it. c: I hope you all like it, because I worked really hard on it. it didn't completely follow the plan I had in mind, but ya'know~

Off to the side is a link to a playlist for this story. It has all of the songs that play in the story. I tried to find mostly acoustic versions, but I can't get any sound off of my laptop right now, so I just used a video that I think has good quality for Don't Go.

Enough of my ramblings~ Enjoy~!

Coffee Shop Soundtrack

“So close to where you came from. Plugged in, I’m in your world now. So lost without a map, you drop me off on the highest mountain,” Rian sang, voice rasping around the higher notes. “You know I’m dying out here. Lost hope and my will to live. In your bed, my heart is hopeless. You’re so cruel to treat me like this.”

His calm tenor voice flowed effortlessly, filling the small coffee shop. His calloused fingers barely ghosted over the fret board. His mocha coloured eyes closed in an effort to focus on the notes he was singing. A black Converse clad foot shook rhythmically to keep time.

“She’s a wolf, and I like it when she bites me. She’s a wolf and I like it when she bites me,” he trailed off, letting the final chords linger in the air. The crowd that had gathered applauded him and urged him to sing another song. He opened his eyes and had them fall on a girl—around his age—so he could ask her for another song to sing.

“Do you know ‘Reasons’ by The Nearly Deads?” she asked, sounding slightly bored.

“Marissa, no one is going to know your weird ass bands,” her friend hissed, causing the girl to just shrug.

“He doesn’t have to know it. Why else would I ask him if he did?”

Before the girl’s friend could say something else ruder than her previous comment, Rian cut in.

“I do know the song. Would you mind holding my phone up for me to see the proper chords and lyrics though? I haven’t played it in a while.” He offered the girl a polite smile. She shrugged a shoulder again and got up onto the small stage with the performer as he pulled up the chords and lyrics. He nodded while he ran over the notes carefully.

“You’ll have to move the page up as the song goes on,” he smiled apologetically.

“That’s fine.”

The boy smiled and started playing the song. His voice would get raspy around the higher notes, but nobody seemed to mind. The girl did as she was asked to and slowly moved the page up for Rian to see the chords and lyrics.

“You know you’re not the same, and that’ll never change. Where do we go from here? No one likes to be alone. No one likes to be alone.”

“I like your voice,” the girl complimented, handing Rian his phone back. He smiled and put it back into his pocket, but before he could thank the girl, her earlier friend butted in again.

“We all like his voice.”

“And his face.”

“And his body.”

“Oh, that ass.”

Rian laughed a little, flushing from the attention. “Thank you. I think.”

“You’re welcome, Rian!” the girls beamed.

“Well, thank you all for coming out tonight to hear me sing. I’ll probably be back next week. Good night.”

He stood up from his stool and placed his guitar back into its case. He almost shivered at the feel of velvet caressing his fingers as they left the case. The metal clasps fed ice into his veins as they brushed across his fingertips. Closing the case, he began to put away the rest of the stuff.
