"Jacie, wait," Jason told her as she hurried out the front door, tears beginning to sting her eyes. They've been through too much to just end up like this. Her mother was captured and she and Jason might never have a chance to save her!

Jason had to basically run to catch up and took hold of her arm to stop her. She flipped around, tears pouring down her face. "Let me go!" She glared, trying to pull away from his firm grip.

"Jacie, stop," he commanded sternly.

"No! I need to find her!"

He shook her hard enough to snap her out of it. "Jacie, listen to me! What do you think running off into the forest will accomplish? You'll only get lost and I can't risk having you get captured too. If you're taken, what would your mother think? She wants you to be safe. Running after her is not the right way to handle this."

Jacie hesitantly nodded. He was right, but what were they going to do about it?

Barry came around the house and froze when he saw Jacie crying and Jason looking upset. "What's going on here?"

"We've just heard some bad news about a family member," Jason told him.

Barry nodded gravely. "Well... can anyone come and pick you up or do you still need the truck?"

Jason glanced at Jacie before replying. "We'll still have to use the truck if it's all right."

Barry nodded again, feeling a little awkward. "Well... I'll go work on it then."

Once he was gone, Jason pulled Jacie into a hug and held her until she was able to stop crying. Somehow, he was able to make her feel safe and like everything would be okay just by doing something kind like hugging her. She probably would have cried a lot longer if Jason hadn't been the one to comfort her. They had a special connection, one that Jacie never had before.

Jacie knew that if they had any chance of even finding her mother, she would need to learn a lot. She needed to be more like Jason. "Can you teach me?" She asked out of the blue, wiping the tears off her face.

Jason seemed slightly puzzled. "Train you... to fight?"

She nodded. "Train me to be more like you, please."

He stared down at the young girl gravely, knowing that she might actually have to learn to fight if they were to survive this at all. "Very well."

Jacie was astonished that he agreed to it so quickly, but hid her excitement. "When do we begin?"

Jason started Jacie's trained immediately that same day. While Barry worked on the car and Martha did her own thing inside, Jason and Jacie found a nice private spot in the giant field to the right of their big, white farm house. They had some horses and cows, but they didn't seem to mind watching them kick and punch at each other.

He taught her the basics, where to hit people in their weak spots, how to deflect knife attacks and he even taught her how to properly use the pistol he just randomly had hidden in one of his many pockets. She swore his pant pockets were like the TARDIS. For days, they trained every day for hours like that; glad Barry was still fixing the truck, so they had an excuse to stay in safety longer without the Sanders suspecting anything weird. Although, Martha did ask them what they were doing out there in the field once. Jason explained that he was teaching Jacie survival skills, and that their field was the best place here for that. She would sometimes ask how it was going. Jacie would want to say, "Very exhausting" but she ended answering, "Good. I'm learning a lot. I can't wait to test it if we go camping or something."
