On a brisk winter day in February a bright young teenage girl named April strolled by. April had goldenrod hair that flowed off her shoulders like the sun’s rays. Her eyes were as blue as the sea and her heart was as opened as a book. There was a feeling of spring warmth that kissed your cheeks. That feeling could only mean one thing, love was in the air. Valentine's Day was only three days away as April Marie prepared as always
for the letter less, candy less, lovey dovey grossness of Valentine’s Day. Even though April excited over the idea of love and the icky upside down roller coaster feeling as if you wanted to throw up. But she had only dreamed of true love and the warm embrace of someone else. She was in a trance, not looking where she was going April walked right into Kevin Malik. WAM!!!
“Hey how about watching where you're going”! “Oh My God”! Kevin shouted caught off guard, “I didn't Know Sorry about that”...Ummm”.
April She interjected. “I mean the names April”.
They both smiled. April had known Kevin since the fifth grade but he obviously never took any notice to her. “
April, April”... Kevin repeated as if he was trying to find a match to the name in the bellows of his beautiful head so beautiful. For Kevin was a very cute guy, cute being an understatement he was perfect. Not only had that but Kevin always been Aprils crush. But she nipped that dream in the butt a long time ago. For they were from two different worlds. She was in chorus, played Field Hockey, and in eight white. But he was in Track and field, football, Band and in eight blue. A real jock. Jock or no jock he was still the nicest sweetest boy that April had ever met.
“So anyway” Kevin said trying to make small talk, “How’s it going”?
“Good, good’, cold but it is winter”. April responded awkwardly.
“So”... Kevin hummed Valentine’s day”. Are you going to the dance? He asked.
“Only if someone asks me”. April sang batting her eyelashes slightly.
After that they both talked for a while and then exchanged phone numbers. The next day April woke up bright and early, only two things were on her mind tryouts for the little mermaid and Kevin. The little mermaid was her big chance to shine and also maybe get discovered. Because she lived in New York talent searches were a big thing. All she ever asked for was one shining moment. But of course Savannah was always soaking it all up like a sponge in a sink. Savannah was the most popular girl in school who had pretty much everything and everyone wrapped around her perfectly manicured fingers. With nails so long and sharp all she had to do was tap them on a desk or counter or something like that and she could never be turned down.
“Witchcraft it must be”. Through April for she even had the one thing April wanted so much it made her heart hurt. She had Kevin. April almost forgot she did have Kevin. They were a thing. How and why? He’s so sweet and she’s a killer shark in sparkly pink nail polish. I guess that’s just the way it goes popular with popular. Even if some might of fell from heaven and the other dag their way up from hell. Sad but true. What happened yesterday between me and Kevin yesterday was a thing in the past, April thought to herself, nothing more and nothing less. Just then the bell rings.
“Ekk” April quickly turns around almost bumping into her best friend the entire world madeleine.
”Hey Bumblebee” Maddie says sweetly. “How’s it going”? It’s always been nicknames and jokes with them. April always got some springy happy name especially when she was in a bad mood.
“Hey Madeline hatter”. Aprils nickname for her. Since Maddie always gets super hipper with a single lick of candy or energy juice they always said she must secretly be the daughter of the mad hatter.
