+Becca's P.O.V+

No. I will not go through all this again.

Watching my best friend making out with a different girl every week is not on the top list of my “10 things I want to do before I die”. But it seems that it’s the only thing I do all the time: go to a party with him, get ditched and watch him making out. My life is just great…NOT!

You are probably wondering who am I and why should I even care. Well, I’ll tell you this. I’m Becca, I’m 18 and I have been in love with my best friend, and only friend (sad, right?) for my entire life.

I know this seems like a cliché story. You know, I love my best friend, he ignores it until one day he sees the light and realizes that he loves me too…that kind of thing. I have some news for you! It’s been 18 years and he hasn’t come around, which I interprete as “he’s not into me”.

I wouldn’t mind being just friends with him (actually, I would mind), but having to see with my own eyes how much fun he has with other girls it’s too much.

Every time I see him with one of his personal sluts, my heart breaks a little bit more. I wonder if he realizes how much it hurts me…I guess not, because every time I try to tell him to stop being a manwhore he just laughs at my face. It’s true that I always tell him in a not-too-serious-tone, but still, sometimes I think he is dumb.

Well, I’ll introduce you to the guy that makes me the happiest and saddest person in the world at the same time: Jake Watkins. He’s the school’s biggest jerk, captain of the football team, and plain gorgeous. The only reason why he has girls around him all the time it’s because he’s hot, otherwise they would be running away from him. Yeah, he’s that much of a jerk. But I know that’s just a façade; with me he’s his real self, the guy I met when I was 6.

I tapped Jake on his shoulder. I didn’t want to be at this party anymore.

“Hey, I’m leaving. You can make her drive you home or spend the night here, but I’m out”.

We had come together to the party in my car, so he would have to find a way to get home.

He stopped kissing Jordan (a.k.a the slut) and looked at me with a “what the hell” face. I knew I was bothering him, but he didn’t have to be so mean about it.

Before he could say something, I turned around and left the party.

“Becca! Wait!” A familiar voice yelled. Second later I felt someone grabbing my arm.

Damn, this boy was fast.

“ What’s wrong Jake?” I told him with and innocent smile. “I’m just tired. It’s been a long day and I want to go home and sleep. You can stay here and have fun.”

“It won’t be as much fun without you”

“Well, I don’t see how I was amusing you. I haven’t seen you since we got here. I guess you were having fun other ways” I said making a face.

“I’m sorry, Becca.” He said looking at me in the eyes. “I promise I will be with you the rest of the party if you stay. Seeing that you miss me so much…” He said with a grin on his face.

And here we go again. Stupid, stupid.

“Okay. I’ll stay a bit longer, but if you ditch me again I swear I’ll leave! I wouldn’t mind being by myself, but since none of the guys talk to me at all, it’s kind of awkard for me”

I seriously can’t understand why not even one guy has flirted with me during my entire life of high school. I know I’m not beautiful, but I think I have a pretty decent body and, my green eyes and black hair, make up for the rest of my face.

“Scout’s honor”

“You are not even a boy scout!” I said laughing.

“No one needs to now that” he said with a wink. “And Becca” Jake said more serious this time “don’t worry about all the assholes in there, you are too good for any of them”.

“Yeah, sure. You don’t need to lie to me, Jake. But thanks anyways.”

I started walking towards the house when I heard something that sounded close to “I can’t believe you are that blind”

I’m not sure I heard that because the music was pretty loud, so I’m just going to ignore it. I’m tired of always getting my hopes up over nothing.
