"Melinda! pay attention"

I snapped out of my day dream and turned my attention to my maths teacher who had stopped writing another boring algebra equation and was now staring at me, her foot tapping impatiently on the floor

"sorry miss" I mumble

she tuts and turns her attention back to the board

I pull a face as soon as her back is turned, I hate it when people call me Melinda I mean what a naff name. I wish my parents had picked a different name for me but when they adopted me as a baby Melinda was already my name and well it stuck,  although now they call me Mel for short as does everyone else excluding my maths teacher.

The bell eventually rang, ending a very long and stressful day at college

"finally" I sighed standing up and gathering my stuff together

after shoving all my books in my locker, I head home

I shouted a hello to my mum and dad as I opened the door before going to my room

flopping onto my bed, I began thinking about a booklet we had been given in psychology today, on the front it read 'All about me' and inside you had to write about your name, age etc. That but was easy,

my full name is Melinda Florence West, I am 18 years old.  Personally ive never liked my name, I used to be teased at primary for having such a weird name.  I am very pale with bright green eyes and dark brown almost black hair and for some strange reason my ears are slightly pointy, maybe it is a birth defect or something. my family used to call me the little elf as a baby

However the second part asked about your birth and that proved to be a little bit more difficult.

You see when I was a baby I had been abandoned outside  a hospital,  I was quickly found and immediently taken into care and a couple moths later my parents adopted me.

it got me thinking about my birth parents, who they might have been and why they abandoned me.

The only thing I have from my birth parents is a necklace with a rainbow stone in the middle that I was wearing when I was found.

Well thats what everone else thinks, the truth is I inherited something a lot more special than a necklace, ever since I can remember I have had the ability to suspend objects in thin air. I have no idea why I can do it it seems like somethi g you would see off the telly. I never told anyone in case someone rang the guys in the white coats.

sometimes i go to a hill at night near my house where I can use my 'powers'. its the only place no one can see me.

one day I hope to find my birth parents and find out the real reason as to why they left me.
