Something was different when I went back to school. It wasn't Ava and Chip being together at all, it was something else. I got my books and walked over to Izzy's locker. "Is it just me or is there something different," I spoke quietly. She looked at me confused. I turned my head to look down the hall were Capri Sun was walking towards us. I slowly put my ears down when I saw Dawn walking next to him with her arms wrapped around his right arm. Now I wasn't upset at all, I was pissed. Izzy looked at me," Are you ok?" I spoke quietly,"Look down the hallway." She turned her head to the direction I was looking. "Oh," she frowned. I'm pretty sure I started growling because Izzy hit my arm after she said that. Dawn let go of his arm an stopped at me and Izzy as Capri Sun continued to his locker. She smiled at me as I did my best to make my fake smile look real. "So did you hear about me and Capri Sun," Dawn beamed," We're dating now." My ears were down to the sides of my head in annoyance. "Good for you," I grumbled. Izzy slowly backed up and walked to class. Capri Sun saw us talking and came over. "Hi Bethany, he smiled at me. I relaxed my ears so he wouldn't ask me what was wrong. "Oh hi," I whispered.
"How are you feeling?"
"Fine."
Dawn gazed at me. She had put her ears back when she saw him showing concern for me.
"Geez, no one wants to hear about your problems," Dawn glared at me.
The smile on Capri Sun's face began to fade as he spoke quietly," I think I will go to class now." "Wait for me, honey," Dawn called to him cheerfully. As Dawn sprinted after him I slowly followed. When I got to class I went to the teacher and asked if I could go the bathroom. As I walked out I glanced at Ava. She quickly got the message and asked to go to the bathroom after I walked out.
"She's ruining me," I exclaimed. Ava watched me as I stared into the mirror. I started frantically walking around the bathroom. Ava was silent, I think she was waiting for me to let it all out before she could say something. Standing next to the wall I looked back at the mirror. I stared at myself for a while. I slowly put my ears down as I backed into the wall, sliding down it into the fetal position. I started crying like the world was ending. Ava slowly walked over and sat down next to me. "It's going to be ok," she shuddered. "Shut up, your biggest crush became your boyfriend," I snapped at her. She got up and walked to the door. "I'll tell the teacher you need some time alone, "She smiled," don't worry she will understand." I sat there for the whole class period. When the bell rang I heard the bathroom door open slowly. I really didn't care who it was who was about to see me curled up on the floor against a wall. I slowly lifted my head to see Mrs. Crab looking down at me. I could tell she knew I was upset. "Do you want to go home," she asked. I shook my head no. She thought for a second before speaking again. "Is this about someone else," she said softly. I nodded my head yes. "A boy," she smiled. I nodded my head again. "I see," she frowned, "boys are confusing and dumb." "But...this boy is nice," I added, " the real problem is the girl who took him." She looked down at me. I could see that she understood my pain. She walked over to me and helped me stand up. "So you probably don't want to see either of them today," she smiled. I nodded my head. "As you know I'm not going to be here the rest of the day so I can set up for the upcoming field trips," she smiled brighter. I nodded once more. "So would you like to call your mom to see if it's ok if you came with me to help," she suggested. "Yes, please," I nodded in surprise. We walked out of the bathroom to the office to call my mom. My mom and the office were fine with me going with Mrs. Crab. We walked out to her car and drove away from the school.
We walked into the busing business building. It was different because, well, I have never been in one. We opened the door to a small little office room. The walls were light pink with little flowers scattered around, the floors were smooth, polished, oak floors with a small pink rug in the center. For a busing office, it was really cute and neat. The lady at the desk looked up at us and smiled. "Why hello there Mrs. Crab," she smiled brightly," how can I help you today?" Mrs. Crab pulled out some papers and got down to business. We walked out an hour later. Who knew it could take that long to schedule busing for a field trip. "So," Mrs. Crab exclaimed," Where do you want to go for lunch?"
We pulled into the parking lot of Panera. As we walked to the entrance my phone started to go crazy. Mrs. Carb looked at me curiously as I scrolled through all five thousand texts the girls were sending me.
(In the group chat)
Ava: Bethany where are you??
Ella: Where did you go!!
Leah: Where are you
Lucy: OMG WHERE ARE YOU
Katie: I hope she's ok
Izzy: I think she died
I laughed slightly as I showed my phone to Mrs. Crab, she laughed too. Once I didn't answer the group chat I started getting Snapchats. If I didn't answer my texts why would I answer Snapchat? Some people just don't have logic. I open Snapchat and It was just people sending me streaks. I asked Mr. Crab if it was ok if I took a picture of us to send to my friends on Snapchat to show them I wasn't dead. Being ok with it I took a picture of us and sent it. Instantly I got replies. They were all wondering why the heck I was with the teacher. I explained to them what happened and that Mrs. Crab had let me go with her for help. When I was done I turned off my phone and continued with my day.
When we finished all our work we went to the mall. "Why are we at the mall," I pondered. "I'm rewarding you with a treat for helping me get so much work done in such a short amount of time," Mr. Crab smiled sweetly as she opened the door for me. We shopped for the rest of the day, when we were satisfied we drove back to school. It was still 8th period though. I didn't want to go to class because one some of my friends were in there, and two Capri Sun and Dawn are in there too. So to avoid the questions and depression I went into Mr. Crabs room to help clean her room. I backed up early so I could quickly leave before anyone saw me. When the bell rang I got my stuff and left. Luckily I wasn't seen while making my way to the car.
