chapter one:

Luka is a well kept angel with messy blond hair and red glasses over his amber eyes. He has everything he could want, his books, his cat Amy and a vast library of ancient knowledge at his fingertips. Everything is perfect when he is alone, wings tucked carefully under his blue sweater and his cat curled up on his lap while he read about earth cultures. He was an angel, pure in soul and in heart and an innocent mind.

"What are you reading about now?" A mature male voice asked behind the young angel, mature but still had a childish ring to it, a voice that caused trouble everywhere it went, burnt people's ears with it's insults and created a sweet harmony when it sang the truth.

Luka turned his head for a brief moment so he could glance at a taller male figure with black hair tied back in a messy bun that took ten seconds to make and crimson eyes behind blue contacts, tan skin that turned black like charcoal when it reached near the wrist and turned to black claws that could rip metal like paper.

"Paris go away I'm reading," Luka turned back to his book turning the page and using his finger to guide the words to his eyes so he wouldn't stray from his sentence and confuse his eager mind. The black claws ran through Luka's hair when Paris rested his arms on Luka's head looking down at the book.

"Another earthen culture book?" Paris rolled his eyes and scratched his head through the bun. "The planet is round and filled with annoying mortals what else do you need to know?"

"It's so much more than that!" Luka protested standing up and slapping the book shut with glimmering eyes.

oh lord here he goes... Paris rolled his eyes and leaned against the wall with arms crossed and one leg over the other.

"For angels...earth is growing every day and learning and adapting and creating new means of protection!" Luka felt a shiver run down his spine and goosebumps rose on his pale skin as he spoke and his wings fluttered under his sweater.

"Yeah yeah calm down kid earth is much more than how they learn trust me.." Paris looked away with a heavy look as he scanned the books.

Paris was never welcomed by any race, not even his own, being a demon will do that to you, he had powers he still can't control and because of that lost his wings, even demons who have no rules...still have pride...losing your wings is losing who you are and being deemed worthless.

Paris had two long scars on his back where the base of his wings were attached to the skin and staples held the skin closed so it wouldn't bleed.

Luka sighed and put his book away "you only say that because you haven't let the humans like I have..."

"Gee wonder why!" Paris snapped and hissed standing up right and towering above Luka "maybe because you're here to keep me locked in this house so I can't...what did they say...go ballistic? Or did they just call me monster.." He snarled turning away down the hall, black talons on his feet dug into the floor and left burnt marks on the carpet.

Luka dropped his eyes down to his feet and sighed, Paris always felt so trapped, like an animal in a cage while Luka had all the freedom he wanted. Luka brushed his bangs away from his glasses and ran to catch up to Paris, Amy the cat at his heels mewing and mowing for attention.

"Paris wait!" Luka called to the demon storming down the halls with claws dragging down the wallpaper in angered streaks that left hints of flames that would not travel without an order to.

"Paris!" Luka reaches to grab his shoulder but withdraws remembering never to touch Paris, Paris' skin is hot to the touch, it would be like sticking your bare hand in flowing lava you'd melt at one touch. Naturally Luka being an angel he'd have some resistance to the heat but it still hurts.
