-MY ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE STORY-

Chilled students in their seats with A/C blowing, the cherry blossoms in the winds danced in the sky, very cloudy it felt as it would rain. There was a presentation projecting on the board, students were either sleeping, passing notes, or actually paying attention, or like me looking out the window. I had a seat that was at the end of the class in a corner next to the window.
Mrs. Yamato was sitting on top of her desk with her legs crossed skimming through some papers totally oblivious about her students. I was quiet in class, liked to keep to myself you could call me a tsundere (loner in Japanese). Tsuki Sato, that's my name and yes I'm a guy. When I first came to Sakura high school, students from my class tried to talk to me ever since I was the new kid. I know so cliché but they've given up by now because I ignored them, but there was only one person that never tried to talk to me 'Aiko Yamamoto', she was also a quiet person.
I turned to my side to see her black hair turning to dark purple an ombre, ruffling my own hair I imagined how soft hers would be, she had silver eyes that could pierce into your soul always wearing black colored clothes matching a flannel with it always wearing long sleeved shirts making it seem like she isn't happy.
'Or maybe she just gets cold easily' I pondered, nevertheless she has never talked to me and I had never spoken to her either.
A loud THUMP came from the door and instantly a foul aroma hit everyone's noses making me come back into reality.
"Oh god what's that horrible smell" Mrs. Yamato gasped. She got up from her seat, I eyed her closely curious of what may be on the other side of the door, she walked slowly to the door until she was just inches away, she steadily slid it open plugging her nose. Everyone wanted to know what was on the other side of that door but I couldn't believe it, total shock. The world was going by so slowly like when the main character of a movie finds out there whole life was a lie.
'Blood everywhere...a student...dead at Sakura HS.'I thought. '11:58... 11:59... 12:00...'I mentally counted in my mind. Everyone rushed through the door screaming, trampling on each other.
I saw a girl trip and fall and no one cared, they just kept running, stomping on her as they ran, bones cracking and snapping, blood everywhere smelling that once again foul odor she had surely been dead. Everyone pushing and shoving it was most likely other students would have the same fate. I was running, going as fast as I could outside where it would be less crowded and I guess everyone else had the same idea in mind because all the students were running for the front door of freedom but what would we see once we got through that door, another dead body? I crashed through the door as others did as my eyes got used to the brightness what I saw was unspeakable. All I could smell was smoke, all I could hear were sirens, all I felt anyone could feel was heartbreak seeing our beloved city crumble.
Once again that insufferable stench hit everyone's noses.I slowly turned to the front gate, and saw the source of the horrid smell. Men hitting the gates but not exactly human, at least not anymore. Covered in blood not being able to formulate any words. They were definitely dead. I thanked god for the front gate of the school being closed but as soon as I turned around students began to run inside and as I was going to join I saw that purple hair Aiko Yamamoto, a girl pushed her to the side obviously on purpose but instead of leaving her like all the other students, I ran to her side to help her up,
"Why did you help me" Aiko said sadly
"Honestly I don't know" I said. And we both went inside into an empty classroom.
"Are you ok?" I asked her.
"Yes I'm fine" she said smiling
"Thank you" I saw blood going down her leg
"Don't lie" I said. I pointed to her leg and said
"You're bleeding". I went to the cabinet to retrieve the first aid, grabbing the gauze, a towel, and tape. I went to the sink and turned on the glistening water and gently put the towel under the ice cold water. I walked back to Aiko as she sat down, I crouched down setting the gauze and tape down while I held the damp towel in my hands .
Using one hand I took the towel and gently wiped her knee. Then I put the towel down and grabbed the gauze wrapping her knee carefully. I grabbed the tape on the desk and secured the gauze.
"Thank you," she said with a smile. I smiled back ruffling my hair feeling a small bit of heat on my cheeks and for the first time I felt a crack of light in my heart and the light finally showed but the moment didn't last. We both walked back out, and saw other students with faces scarred for life, teachers everywhere trying to comfort them .
Walking past all of those faces made me reflect on my past that I wish I could forget, but I can't because I too have been scarred. The things that have happened to me are what make me cold person but Aiko brings light to my life. She's relatable, she's comforting to be around, and I can be myself without being ridiculed. 'Maybe I feel this way because I get a sad vibe from her- I guess i'll never know' I pondered.
"Are you students okay?" asked a staff member.
"Yes we're fine I just tripped and scraped my knee" Aiko said with a reassuring smile.
"Well that's good to here-" I stopped the woman
"What's happening, why are there dead... undead people outside the gates!" I exclaimed.
"Well we don't... we don't really know, the school faculty tried to call the police but they didn't answer," the woman said surprisingly calm.
"I... I see" saying with a frown and as I said that Aiko grabbed my arm and started dragging me with her away. She whispered to me
"We need to figure out a plan,"
"What do you mean?" I said confused.
"What if someone else is infected? You know in the school" she said looking at the students around us.
Infected. I thought about that word, she thinks it's a disease.'A virus but how did people get infected and are we infected' I pondered. I felt as if someone was shaking me,
"Hey are you ok Tsuki? Tsuki!-" Aiko and I weren't walking anymore. I got back to reality sadly
"I... I just need to think about what's going on" I said storming off.
"Tsuki wait!" Aiko shouted
"I need to just be left alone for right now-" I interjected
"I think I know how people are... are turning this way!" I stopped walking. I turned back and started walking back to her grabbing her shoulders holding them tight
"You better not be playing games with me" I said harshly
"I'm serious!" Aiko exclaimed and as she said that I saw a crimson red cross her cheeks.
"What do you think then?"  I asked ruffling my hair. I started to also get that crimson red color on my cheeks but before she could answer
"Attention all students this is your vice principal speaking everyone head to the Multi-Purpose room for your safety" It kept repeating over and over again.
Staff members rushed the students with Aiko and I together in the crowd into the large space.
"Get into lines you will be examined" one of the staff members shouted. 'What's going on?' I thought to myself
"I tried to tell you that we need to leave..." Aiko said with her arms crossed pouting.
"Why? What are you trying to run from-" I tried to ask but she interjected
"Whatever just forget about it okay." turning around. As she said that I knew whatever I tried to do she wouldn't talk so I just gave up, for now. Men and women in camouflage jumpsuits came into the building followed by more men and women dressed in white coats with clipboards in their hands.
"What's going on?" a student shouted.
"We are here to see which students are infected and which that aren't!" One of the men in Camouflage shouted
"So line up next to the door." All the students complied lining up at a door to another room I mean they had guns so it was hard not to listen to them. After a couple of hours the boy in front of me was called. He went in but he didn't come out, all I heard was a gunshot echoing through the room and other people obviously heard it too so I was nervous when it was my turn. They called my name "Tsuki Sato" so I slowly walked up praying that I wasn't infected ruffling my hair I also looked for the boy but he was nowhere to be found so I assumed the worst "They killed him because he was infected" I murmured under my breath. I was in, the man told me to change into a patient's attire so I went into the bathroom and changed now walking back to the room. The man examined me for any bites or scratches. I was fine, clean, and pure of any infections thank god. When I went out Aiko went in looking at me with those piercing silver eyes I could feel the fear she felt. It didn't go the same for her. She ran out of the room with the woman nurse chasing after her
"Get her she's infected!" The she said.
The world going by so slowly I was shocked and know understood why she wanted to leave earlier. I know I shouldn't trust Aiko I mean she's infected and never thought to tell me but something inside me told myself to help her so I did. I ran with her and never looked back not wanting to ever turn my head even if I became infected from this decision. Going into the future with her and her alone seeing what would be made of us if we would find the cure, if we would live to see that day but all I cared about was her Aiko Yamamoto.
I grabbed her shoulders looking into her eyes those piercing silver eyes a skarlet came across my cheeks looking at her whole not physically but in the inside, mentally and her face was crimson red this will be my worst but best decision I will ever make so I pulled her in, kissing her for 5 seconds then running away with her hand in mine, gunshots in the background. 'Goodbye high-school...'
