Chapter 1 - The New Guy (Sorry its really short!)
His electric blue eyes pierced me as I ran through the rain storm. That was the day I met him, the day it all started. The day my life changed. His blue eyes hurt just looking at it. He was hiding something behind those eyes. Something dark in his past, something unspeakable that could never be forgotten. The truth.
He was a quiet person. His face showed no expression, so there is no way of telling what he was thinking. He was like a clam hiding themselves with a shell. I don't know why but I can't get him out of my mind. He seems familiar but I can't yet put my finger on it. Something about him always catches my eye. Something....My dream. I always have the same dream about me in the woods. It was raining in the night. I was running through the woods looking for something. Then I saw him. He was moving his hands around doing something. Then he saw me staring at him. I blinked, and he disappeared. Where did he go? What was he doing? Who is he? My question hung in the air like an old family story being forgotten. The school hallways were crowded as always as people struggle to get to class. I walked into Science 12 right when the bell rang. I sat down at my usual seat putting my bag down against my desk. Mr.Walter's voice boomed through the class. "We're going to have a new student today." Whispers and murmurs filled the room immediately. "Quiet down please. His name is Caleb Kroser and he transferred to here from Australia." Another murmur from the girls. He walked in. It was the guy from my dream. Caleb Kroser was the new transfer student.
My heart beated so fast I was afraid he could hear it. What is this? "You can take a seat beside Ms.Kayles please." "Wait. What?" not realizing I said that out loud. "Do you have a problem with that Ms.Kayles?" "No Mr.Walter." "Good." I hated when he was like that. "You can show Caleb around school right?" "Yes." "Okay then. Ms.Kayles you are assigned to Caleb then." More girls complained, glaring at me with their icy cold eyes. He took a seat beside me. He shoved his desk against mine leaving the desk crooked. "What the he-" "Ms.Kayles is there a problem?" "No." "Then please keep quiet." I sighed knowing there's no point in fighting with Mr.Walter nor Caleb. I'll just get sent to the office like everybody else. "Look I don't want to be on bad terms with you. I just want to get this year over with." I whispered to Caleb. I was usually a good girl who got perfect grades but somehow Caleb is influencing me to be a bad person. Caleb nodded and went back to work. All through class the only thing he ever did was nod and point. He was surprisingly intelligent. He got all the questions perfectly and he was already the teacher's pet. But something still tugged at me. If he is such a good guy why does he seem so bad? He was a hard person to figure out. The bell for lunch rung so I grabbed my bag and was about to leave. He grabbed my wrist freezing me in place. "Wait."
I followed him out of class not knowing what was happening. Where is he taking me? I only knew him for 2 hours and yet somehow I trust him. We are outside now in the back of Sutherland Secondary where the forest starts. He stops near a tree but his grip on my wrist doesn't loosen. He turned around for the first time and looked at me. His eyes were glistening and his hair was shining with rain drops. It was the same eyes I saw in my dream. "Who are you?" I asked quietly barely audible with the rain hitting the leaves around us. He hesitated looking away from me, thinking. His grip loosened, his hand swiftly moved away from my arm. He looked hurt somehow by the question I had asked. This was nothing like the person I saw in Science class. He looked strong, massive yet weak and small. I knew he was hiding something. "Who are you?" I asked a little louder with a little annoyance in my voice. He sighed. Did he sigh of relief or my stubbornness? I waited patiently waiting for an answer to come out of his mouth. But all that came out was his steady breath, easy and slow. His chest rose ever so slightly for each breath. "If you're not going to tell me I'm going to leave." I walked away. After a few steps I looked back but he was not there. I was running now, back into the school.
My clothes were soaking from the rain and my hair was a mess. I grabbed a towel from the office to dry my hair. My brush was in my locker, "Ow." I said quietly into someone's chest. "Sorry, I was ju-." It was Caleb.
