One week is all I'd get with BTS if I won this competition. I was still flabbergasted by the opportunity granted to me. Well, I admit that I had to travel all the way to Chicago (where the band was currently touring) but hopefully it was worth it.
The supreme moment of anticipation grew as I waited in the hallway by the competition room. Silence seemed to stretch for as long as I could remember. Then it was soon abolished by the sound of the competition room door creaking open. I sat up, aware and listening to the man that appeared clutching a clipboard.
"Leia Bridge?" He called to the group of us his eyes scanning our faces.
"Yes, that's me!" I practically jumped from my seat to follow the man to the competition room.
My heart skipped a beat. Goosebumps of nervousness pricked my skin with a brush of cool air. My gaze meeting with the members of BTS turned my cheeks red. All but one member beamed as I walked towards the mic. I felt my nerves hit the top of the ceiling as I caught Suga's blank expression. For some reason the rapper made me feel demoralized. But he was not to know that.
"Hello there Leia! Welcome to the competition!" It was RM that spoke. "So you're from the UK. That's a long way to travel."
"Yeah, I suppose it is." I pushed my red fringe out of my face just so that they met with Suga's unamused expression once more. I took a tight grip on the mic before me. "Well, I am determined to win this competition - I didn't come all this way for nothing."
RM chuckled. "You're quite bold, then. Especially with you're red hair." He dropped me a charming wink but all I could offer him was a meek smile. "I don't suppose you can speak any Korean, can you?"
"Bits here and there but I had the song I'm singing today translated by an English-Korean friend of mine."
RM whistled in admiration. "Wow. Well when you're ready, blow this stage away!"
I gave a nod to the man who was controlling the music station and the music began immediately. Long drawls of a piano and violin fill the room as my voice harmonizes with it. Just like the tide of the sea, my voice rolls with the sorrow embedded deep in the song. It was coming to the end and I knew what I had to do to win this. My head bowed thrust back, both hands clutching the mic before I belted out the final note, the music fading out.
Panting a smile, I look back at BTS to find that I have a standing ovation. The group cheered and whistled all except one. Suga looked even more intimidating with his blank expression and absent-minded clap. To save myself from looking like a prune in front of the other members, I sent a smile his way but all I received was a frown.
Suit yourself, mate.
"Well, Leia, what can I say? I'm just blown away." RM marvelled. "Thank you so much for that performance, it was outstanding."
Pride poured over me as if I was in the shower. "You're welcome," I said. "It's been a pleasure."
I was quickly guided out the room with a cheery wave to the band. Outside there are still people waiting for their audition. A few of them turn to look at me with a look of envy. Did I truly do that well for people to just glare at me? Was I that great?
Only time will tell.

It's the end of the auditions and everyone's bustling to hear the results. I, however, cannot stop fretting. I force a fake smile as we are all ushered into the room where BTS are standing. Apparently, at my age (which is notably nineteen), I'm considered an adult, but I don't feel like it. I feel just like a child being yelled at for something they've done wrong.
RM took a mic from one of the managers and breathed down it, "So, hello! Thank you to everyone who entered and auditioned for this competition. We will now reveal who is the winner. Any of the other members want to announce the winner?"
There was an awkward moment of silence before we all saw J-Hope doing some sort of dance with flapping arms heading towards RM. "I'll say it!" He jumped and took an envelope from a manager.
My heart flutters. Beads of sweat gathered up in my body. This was it.
J-Hope faked and fumbled about with the envelope. When he finally managed to open it. he cast a beam of sunshine to us auditionees. "And the winner is... Leia Bridge!"
Oh gosh.

Yay, crap first chapter! I don't know why but I always find my first chapter is always the worst chapter out of all the chapters. Help me 😂
If you did like this first chapter remember to vote and comment. Also, comment which was your favourite scene in this chapter.
I hope to update frequently but because I am doing GCSEs maybe not as frequent as I'd like. Anyways...
I hope everyone has a nice day. Remember each and every one of you are valid in this world and I hope you recognise that you're all loved.
