Again, I am horrible at beginnings, so please don't mind these first two chapters. The third one is where it gets better
The sunlight stretched over the horizon and lit up the frosty winter day.
Arabella climbed the stairs to the third floor with her purple bunny slippers, and a plate of food in her hand. Her wavy golden hair bounced and flowed as she went up.
"Lets see, room 13... ah! Clara wake up! Gradel is coming for a dorm check in twenty minutes!" She screeched.
But not a sound was heard from inside the room.
"Clara?" She knocked.
Still no answer.
Steadily, Arabella opened the door with caution.
"Clara?" she whispered again. As she tip toed past the door she noticed the pillows and cabinets all neat and tidy, too neat and tidy. Nothing had changed its place since three days ago, not even the cinnamon buns she had brought in, and left in the kitchen.
Step by step she continued moving forward, and looking at all the furniture as she walked by. She continued down the entrance hall, but stopped and glared at the vibrant blue vase that she had filled with white flowers just the day before.
She sauntered over to the vase, and touched the only flower left. A burning crimson rose. Her finger was pricked by the stem, but she didn't let go. Something was bothering her about that rose.
She plucked the rose out of the vase and looked at it from all angles, but finally she put it up to her nose. The fragrance from the flower smelled rotten and foul with a sharp stench of something sour.
She immediately dropped it in fear. She scurried to Clara's bedroom and opened the door.
Her rosy face became filled with horror.
Underneath the sheets Arabella saw the figure of a body. A dismembered body. Clara's auburn hair no longer shined and her face had no light left. It looks like she died some time ago.
Arabella trembled and fell to her knees. "N-n-no, she didn't do anything wrong. She never stayed out late, so w-why?"
Her body was shaking and she sat frozen in the bedroom until someone knocked.
"Dorm check!!! You must open!" . It was Gradel.
Arabella stumbles to her feet and panics. "Where do I go?". Her eyes shifted left and right searching for a place to hide "I can't stay here," she mumbles.
The knocks became louder and louder. She got an idea.
As fast as she could, she squeezed herself under the bed, and covered her nose. The stench was unbearable, but it was her best option.
"Opening the door!" Gradel cried.
The sound of his large keys opening the door echoed throughout the entire dorm. His black hound sniffed through the entrance as soon it entered. Arabella lays silent under the bed, and covers the sound of her breath with her gown.
As soon as Gradel entered the room he noticed the bloody rose that Arabella dropped, but unlike her, Gradel noticed the smell quicker. He led his hound into Clara's bedroom, and yanked the sheets that were covering the bloody remains of her body.
All Arabella sees is a pair of brown leather boots and the paws of a dark black bloodhound while she struggles to not make a sound.
"Poor thing must've died a while ago," he smirks. He tugs the leash "let's go boy."
Arabella sees the boots mover farther and farther away, but refuses to make a sound until she hears the sound of the door shutting.
It took a while, but she finally heard a big thump.
She was safe.
Arabella climbed out from under the bed, and distanced herself from the rotting corpse.
She crawled over to a nearby corner and put her head down to her knees, "what did she do wrong?" Arabella whimpered.
After moments of silence she lifted her head and wiped her tears, "I can't be sad, I don't have the right to be sad. This isn't the first time."
She reached over to the night-lamp stand beside her and tried to pull herself up, but something made her slip and fall back down.
It was a note.
She unfolded it and read the contents. Her eyes widened.
This blood that has been spilled is of the demon, and those who embrace it shall be punished.
Her hands became firm and she shredded the paper till nothing was left. She curled her lip, "they knew".
