Now I'm just chasing time with a thousand dreams
I'm holding heavy
And as we cross the line, these fading beats have all been severedI sat in the chair, my hand clutched to the arm rest as i closed my eyes and braved myself for the IV to be stuck in my skin.
The nurse spoke to me to take my mind off of it, but it didn't help. I still felt the prick of the needle. The jerking of the bag being hooked up to the IV.
She sat the timer beside me and smiled as she patted my hand. She made her way to the next patient and did the same process.
I grabbed my phone and played my music as i leaned my head into the head rest, the sound filling my ears being one i missed.
I passed the time, the full hour by playing games and talking to my friends My boyfriend being the one that had stayed by my side. He was my hope that i could get through this.
The time rang, the same nurse walking and turning it off. She removed the IV and helped me to the wheelchair.
The skin of my arm had managed to turn black and blue, sore to the touch. Everything had been a blur.
The hours seemed to pass by slowly, the room spinning as i moved to looked around. I lifted my head for one split second and everything came spewing out.
I grabbed the bed pan that i had been clutching, everything coming up as i felt my eyes welling up. The nurse had pulled my hair back.
Her hand at my lower back as she rubbed circles. I felt my whole insides come up as each time i gagged.
My forehead had beads of sweat pouring down as i laid my head back down on the pillow.
"Let me get you some water hun." Kaci spoke, her footsteps descending.
I shook my head and sobbed, my hand clutching the bed pan. My other at my head as i held back my hair from sticking to my forehead.
My mind wondering, Can i just skip this life? This reality, can i get a button that sends me to the next life.
The nurse sat down the cup of water on the bedside dresser. She pressed a wet rag to my forehead. She took the bedside pan and walked to the bathroom dumping into the toilet, flushing it.
"Do you still feel like throwing up?" She asked.
I shook my head and looked over to her, i reached out for the cup of the water. My hand shaking as i tried my hardest to move without making me sick.
"Here. Here, let me get it." She handed me the cup.
My hand shaking as i brought the cup to my lips, i tried to sip slowly but my thirst was overpowering as i gulped it down.
She grabbed the cup as i lowered it down, a smile on her face. "Get some rest."
She turned out the lights and shut the door behind her. The room filling with silence again, i turned to look out the window. The street lights being one thing i missed since being here.
I looked to the window of the room, the hallways quiet not a soul in sight. It would be peaceful if it wasn't the place it was.
A few nurses was all that passed by, the footsteps echoed through the hallway. I laid there, thinking of all things that were taken for granted.
I looked at the ceiling, my eyes studying it for the thousandth time since being here for the three days it had been.
I sighed and closed my eyes, my arms clutched to my chest as i tried my hardest to let sleep over take me. Finally, the feeling of emptiness stopped. It was gone.
