Chapter One

Tik tok tik tok tik tok.

The ticking of the clock was like a time bomb just waiting to explode with its every tick. Obviously, it didn't help the raging nerves she was having especially when she didn't have any idea what was this whole "business trip" all about. Something in her gut told her that it wasn't something good but only hoped it would turn out fine, hopefully.

It was only a few minutes ago, when they stepped into what seemed a castle or a mansion.

Fascinated, she couldn't help but repeat in her head how the huge double doors opened. What she noticed first was the high ceiling and the enormous crystal-like chandelier. Her eyes shifted towards the grand staircase across her and that's when she saw them. Her eyes almost bulged at the gentlemen wearing three-piece black suits standing alongside the staircase.

"Good evening, Lady Krissy!" was their synchronized greeting as they bowed all together. Krissy couldn't help but blush at the greeting. She was distracted and didn't notice the guy standing just beside her. She jumped when she heard someone talk beside her.

"I am Edmond, the main butler of this mansion. Please follow me, I shall bring you to the living room. This way please."

Krissy looked from her mother to her father only to see the latter adjusting his tie and clearing his throat. The irritation in his eyes were evident and his eyes narrowed. And then it hit her.

The gentlemen that looked like butlers only acknowledged her. Shivers traveled her spine. The longer she's involving herself into this trip, the creepier it gets. Why did she feel like she was expected on the "business trip" she never booked herself into?

"Krissy sweetie?" Her mom's voice pulled Krissy out of her thoughts. They were already a few steps away from Krissy. The glare of her father only made her sigh before she followed them.

Tik tok tik tok tik tok.

There it went again; the clock was making the young lady more nervous than she already was. Bringing her back to the unknown reality, she was about to face.

Not too long, footsteps echoed on the huge silent mansion. Could it be the "young master" the butler was referring to?

Before Krissy could turn around to figure it out. The sound of the familiar voice of the butler invaded the lady's ears.

"I'm sorry but the young master would take another few minutes for he had a very important matter to attend to. He is sending his apologies especially to Lady Krissy."

She went rigid at another mention of her name. The infamous "young master" seemed to know her well while she wasn't even aware of the guy's name.

The butler excused himself and Krissy wasn't very happy about the butler's announcement. Later on, she stood and excused herself as well. The odd look from her parents' eyes didn't go unnoticed. Before they could say no, she answered them the most cliché excuse she could think of.

"I need to use a bathroom." When in fact she just felt suffocated, suffocated from being left in the dark, suffocated on being in the huge cage-like mansion.

She sauntered away before they could protest. Krissy turned to the first corridor she passed by. 'Where were the butlers?' she thought to herself.

She then shrugged. The absence of the butlers would give her peace on her little escapade. She wandered off the huge mansion until she reached a hall full of portraits. Her curiosity piqued when she saw the portraits were of the same man so she stepped forward to take a closer look.

She almost gasped. The guy on the portraits was the epitome of beauty. Krissy was an introvert and never had been interested on any man before.

It was not like she never encountered any man before. In fact, she had many suitors. Sure, they were handsome and all but the guy on the portraits was on a whole different level. His prominent jaw, kissable pink lips and pointed nose were made to perfection. Not to mention those eyes, eyes that she could not even take her eyes of. Electric blue eyes were staring at her. Even in the portrait, their intensity shook her to the core.
