"Who? Who's here?"

Addison recalled the conversation with Mrs. Oak the night before as she sat down at the edge of her bed, drinking hot milk. She couldn't sleep very well after what she found out the night before.

"Kimina. Kimina Yuki."

"Bu-but, how?" Addison stuttered.

"Something you might've done triggered her awakening."

"Awakening?"

"That spirit has been locked away and asleep for decades now."

"What? So you mean that it has been here this whole time?"

"Oh, yes. Thinking about it, I might've heard your grandmother mention this to you. To both of you when you were younger."

"What? When?"

"Do you remember the old Japanese myth that she told you about before?" Mrs. Oak asked to the girls. For a moment, the girls looked at each other, both seemingly confused. Until Jessie brightened.

"That one where it was about the lady with the scar who keeps asking random people if she's pretty or the one with the little girl who took the photo of the spirit that kept hunting her before she died?" Jessie asked, looking excited.

"Both actually. When I met your grandmother, I still remember the day as clear as sky, she was asking for help, saying that there was this spirit who kept hunting her down. I asked your grandmother about what she did but she hadn't answered. So, I started to grow curious but your grandmother warned me that I must not get involved as the spirit will also hunt me down. Later that day, she called in, saying the same phrase as your brother did. Rushing, I was able to make it to this house in time. The spirit was about to kill her. Luckily, despite its overwhelming power, we were able to chain down the spirit and cage it down a certain page of a book." Mrs. Oak told them.

"About the book, was it the one that had a picture of Kimina Yuki?"

"Yes." Mrs. Oak sighed "I asked your grandmother about this, months ago. That was when she finally told me what was actually happening. The woman in the story and the little girl are the one. She explained that she was the babysitter of that little girl and that she had come across the woman during one point in her life. She told me that the only reason she survived that encounter was because the spirit recognized her." Mrs. Oak told them, looking far away for her thoughts seemed to be scattered.

"Ho-"Addison started but was interrupted with Mrs. Oak.

"I think it's about time for you girls to go. It's already almost midnight. Hurry to your rooms, you wouldn't want to be caught by her. Go." Mrs. Oak said quickly, ushering them out of her room.

"What?" Jessie asked.

"Just go. Hurry." Mrs. Oak insisted. Slamming the door shut.

The cousins looked at each other and ran back to their rooms. Although, Addison could've sworn that she heard a voice trailing behind them and footsteps coming from the other side.

After recalling the events of last night, Addison went over to wake Jessie up. Both went down the stairs and came across Mason. Upon seeing them Mason immediately pulled the pair to a corner.

"What do you think you're doing?" Mason asked them.

"Doing what?" Jessie asked him. Confirmed Jessie thought. Since yesterday, she had a feeling that someone was following them, that someone being her 17-year–old older brother, Mason, and were eavesdropping on their conversations.
