*Flashback*
I hide behind my dad's leg all my charisma gone, I don't want to leave. My father is giving me away. "Dad, how long will I be here?" I ask. After my mother's heart had been torn from her heart he is worried about me getting hurt. "Until you're old enough to understand." I look at my new parents and turn to say good-bye. He's gone, and I have a feeling he isn't coming back.
*Twelve years later*
I open my eyes. I'm 14! This is going to be the best birthday ever! I pop out of bed throw on black yoga pants, a nerdy shirt from my large collection, and lace up my signature ankle royal blue converse. I throw my dark brown hair into a ponytail and race down the stairs. I pick up the phone immediately and dial Rose, my super nerdy BFF. Even if she moved out of the country it doesn't mean we can't keep in contact. No answer. "Ugh!" Maybe she's at choir practice. I walk into the kitchen and there is a box on the table. It is a faded brown with a brand new envelope on it. I open the letter.
Dear Morgan,
You're adopted. We know you've always known that, but if you want to find your blood father, this box should tell you how. You don't have to if you don't want to.
Love
Mom and DadI look at the box. It stares back expressionless. Do I really want to open this? I then remember that night twelve years ago. I owe it to myself to at least know what happened. I open it to find instructions on faded yellow parchment and and a large, brown bag that appeared to be empty. I pulled out the instructions. "Ugh, who wrote these, I can't even read them," I murmured to myself. It read in scrawly writing:
To: My beloved daughter, Morgan
From: Killian Jones, your loving father
1. Open the bag.
2. Pull out the flower.
3. Crush it in your hand.
I pull out a beautiful white lily and crush it in my hand. My surroundings started to blur, and I black out.
