Chapter 9
"Two years," I said as I lifted two fingers, "It took him 2 years to finally ask my mom out. Grabe, ang banban talaga."
"It was so obvious that they like each other but both were just too shy to make the first move. So, I had to do it for them."

It was finally summer vacation, which means Tristan gets to stay up a little late past nine, watch cartoons, play video games, and other things he loves to do that he was limited to doing due to school.
On the first day of his summer vacation, he woke up early feeling giddy. He got up from his bed and went to check on his mom which he always does every time he gets up from bed. The little boy then slowly walked down the stairs and made his way to the kitchen to prepare her breakfast.
He couldn't wait to get older so he could learn how to cook and make his mom proper breakfast; sunny side up eggs, bacon, and toast, instead of cereals with lots of milk poured in the bowl.
In two years, Tristan had gotten taller. He could finally reach (by tiptoeing) the cereal box that was laying on the kitchen counter. He poured Lucky Charms on two separate bowls and added milk after. He had to stand on a chair to get the tray that was in one of the kitchen cabinets. After preparing breakfast, he went upstairs to wake up his mom.
He pushed her door open with his foot and slowly walked inside, placing the tray down on her bedside table. Karylle was wrapped in her comforter and Tristan squeezed himself to her side, hugging her from her neck and peppering kisses all over her face until she woke up smiling at him.
"Good morning!" The little boy greeted enthusiastically.
Hugging him in return, Karylle gave him a kiss on top of his head before saying, "Good morning, sweetie."
"I made you breakfast in bed!" He beamed, feeling proud.
"Let me guess, cereals?" Karylle chuckled, but Tristan just nodded with a big smile.
After breakfast, Karylle prepped up for work and Tristan packed his bag because he was going to stay at his Tita Ninang's place and they will meet his mom for lunch later. Karylle double checked everything before leaving the house, making sure she didn't leave anything.
"Tristan, are you sure wala ka ng naiwan?"
"Yup. All here." He said while showing his backpack.
Karylle locked the door and made their way to the lift. Before leaving the building, Karylle went to check the mailbox if there were any letters. She took all the letters out of the box and accidentally dropped one which Tristan immediately picked up for her. His eyes caught the handwritten message on the envelope. It said, "Karylle". Tristan's brows wrinkled at the letter.
"Mom, who is this from?"
Karylle took the envelope and read her name on it with eyebrows furrowed. "I don't know." She said.
"Can I read it?" Tristan asked, suddenly excited about what's in the letter.
"This is mommy's. It might be from work or maybe from Lola & Lolo."
