The sun seems to shine very shyly in this morning. Even the appearance of it was late. And its intention was not to give warmth at all. It was out as if just to say 'Good morning' and told of its existence to the world.
"Even in the Winter I still dominated the day," perhaps it said.
In a small corner of Seoul, a person ignored that arrogant greeting from the sun. She did not even care which season it was that time. Both of those was not on her mind, it did not seize the slightest of her attention.
Sadness appeared on the face of Cho Sunhyeong. Sitting in the driver seat, she was waiting for someone to come out from the house where her car was parked in front of. Although her heart wished for another reality. She did not want anyone to come out from there. She wanted to get out of her car, go into the house, stop that person from getting out of the house and stay a little longer in there. Spending more time together and refusing to be apart.
Her eyes were too warm compared with her cold body. Today is the day she would send Lee Jinki, her boyfriend, to the military service which he will undergo for 2 years, all men would have to serve the army when they turn a certain age. An extremely long time compared with the days they had spent together for about 7 years. Their togetherness shall be tested by this temporary separation.
For them, obviously this hit them hard. They had to get used to leave their habits they shared for a while, because when the duty was calling, all men must answer it. Until finally love must give in and wait, and when the future comes, love will meet again to keep each other.
"I am not crying! I can do this!" Sunhyeong mumbled, encouraging herself.
There was the sound of footsteps coming down the stairs that could be heard by Sunhyeong. Soon, she could picture a silhouette of someone moving closer. Lee Jinki walked past in front of her car. He walked towards the back to put his two large bags in the boot, then went in and sit next to her.
For a moment, Sunhyeong forgot how to breathe. Her eyes were glued on every gesture Jinki did. Their eyes finally met. Sunhyeong's hand clutched the steering wheel, squeezing it tightly. It didn't escape from Jinki's sight.
"You promised to take me today," he said, staring straight into Sunhyeong's eyes. "It's a decision we both made. Sooner or later, this day will come." A smile attached on his face.
Jinki know for sure how his lover felt.
The tightness and worries.
Since the accident that happened two years ago, a huge accident that almost took Sunhyeong away from his life forever, holding back the steering wheel for Sunhyeong was not an easy thing. In fact it's almost impossible if there is no excitement like Jinki beside her. He's always supportive and tried to restore her courage which she had lost.
"I tried to empty my mind, tried to just think about you, me and our happiness. But I had trouble and fear." Sunhyeong's eyes closed, somehow feeling better in the darkness.
"Sunhyeong-ah. Look at me!"
Jinki grabbed her hands softly, letting it go from the steering wheel and warming it in his hands. He blew her fingers one by one. Very slowly and stalling for time.
Sunhyeong turned to see what Jinki did to her. She already felt a thousand sweet things Jinki done to her before, but this time, it was different. Her heart was touched up to the deepest parts. Parts that were neither exposed to the sun nor feel the happiness.
