The sun was just beginning to set over the horizon. The base was slowly getting quieter and quieter as the members of BlackWatch were turning in for the night in some attempt of getting some rest before a mission in the morning.

One member seemed intent on not going to sleep. Claiming he no longer needed it. And to some extent, the cyborg was right. Genji, equipped with his new body, didn't need many of the things that humans needed to survive. His cybernetics supplied him with the necessities. And no matter how many of the other BlackWatch members told him how blessed he was, he deemed it a curse.

So there he stood, alone, on the rooftop. He had his arms crossed and his glare was menacing as he stared out at the setting sun.

But he wasn't alone. He knew that. He could sense the woman that stood behind him. The insufferable female that seemed to constantly lurk in the shadows. His shadows. Her eyes were constantly on him. And as much as he hated anyone staring at him in his current state of being, he couldn't bring himself to hate her stare.

Her dark/light eyes weren't filled with the disgust that he could so easily find in the others' eyes. Her held more curiosity more than anything. And Genji just couldn't understand why she was so fascinated with him. Especially now with how long they had been working along side each other in BlackWatch.

Yet she continued to stand on the rooftop, a fair distance behind him, staring at him like she was trying to figure out a puzzle. She stayed quiet and waited for him to make a move of acknowledgement toward her.

Finally, Genji grew tired of feeling her eyes on him, without her saying anything. It was beginning to make his uneasier than usual. He threw a sharp glare over his shoulder at the woman. She made no move of fear, only raising an eyebrow as she waited for him to speak.

"What do you want, (y/n)?" he asked harshly, his voice deep, yet raspy from how seldom he spoke nowadays. She only blinked then shrugged her shoulders. The lack of actual response, made Genji's glare harden. It always the same with her. She hardly spoke to him, only watched. And it was infuriating to him.

He huffed, then turned his head back to the setting sun, which was just about to complete its decent behind the distant hills. He decided to ignore the girl, like he always did. Like he did with the others.

But the sound of footsteps closing in on him, made him tense up. It was obvious when his shoulders went up, the footsteps paused briefly before they continued forward, though at a noticeably slower pace. Genji could almost feel her breath on the his back. He made no move to acknowledge her again.

Genji flinched when he felt a tug at one of the wires on his back. He whipped around and grabbed the offender's hand in defense, already holding the hilt of his sword. But he stopped his movements when he saw the wide eyes of (y/n). His own red eyes stared into hers. The grip on her wrist did not subside in the least.

(Y/n) blinked severing the trance she had been put in when Genji turned on her so quickly. She lowered her eyes to the hand that was wrapped around her wrist. The more human of the two, though wires still sprung from under his skin then dive back into hiding. She reached still free hand over to touch his skin. It was colder than hers, and rougher with the countless scars that litter his body.

Genji only watched, unmoving, hand still poised to draw his sword. Her hand against his skin, the feeling had almost been completely forgotten. Genji's stance softened and he brought his hand down and away from his sword.  He watched as her hand traveled from his hand, up his arm, gently touching where the wires sprouted out of his skin.

His skin was rougher around the wires, (y/n) noted as the tips of her fingers drifted over his skin, further up his arm, to his shoulder. She traced the criss crossing scars on his skin. In the back of her head, she questioned why he was letting her bit this close to him, much less touch in such a fashion. But the thought was quickly discarded as she continued her exploration. There was no telling when he would snap back to reality and yell at her.

Genji was so caught up in the strange woman's actions he hadn't realized that he had released the wrist he had held captive. He only became aware when he registered that there twice as many finger touching that glowing red circle on his chest. He looked down at her hands that traced the seems in the metal. (Y/n) followed the lines in the metal up in neck, and to his face plate.

Genji couldn't feel her hands, but he knew they were touching his metal plate that masked his lower face. His red eyes still held their glare, but (y/n) could see that he meant no harm. The anger that was flowing in his eyes was not towards her, nor anyone in Blackwatch. Something from the past haunted him, that much she was sure of. Anything beyond that, she was in the dark.

Her round eyes looked deeply into his, like she was searching for the answer to the universe. Her hands continued to the stay on his face plate, sitting just where his cheeks were. Her hold was gentle, and felt weird to the cyborg. He was no longer use to having someone touch him so gentle. To treat like he was going to break if handled the wrong way.

For this reason, he actually hesitated to bring his hands up. To lay them on top of hers. To keep her hands, keep her close. But once he had done it, he let out the breath that he hadn't known he had been holding. His eyes closed and his chin fell to his chest.

(Y/n) only smiled at the cyborg. No longer did he look menacing or threatening. Now, he just looked tired. Sure she didn't know what kind of burden he was carrying on his shoulders, nor did she think it was any of business. If he wanted to tell her he would. But that didn't make it any harder for her to at least try and be there beside this man, to at least make it easier to bare.
