Before we enter the homeroom, we stop by Clara's locker and she shoves the books inside. We walk to homeroom in complete silence that somehow doesn't feel awkward. I open the door for Clara and as I follow her inside the bell rings. I sit down at my desk and she surprisingly follows and sits next to me. "Uh, do you mind?" she asks, nodding in the direction of the desk she sat at yesterday that is now taken. I shake my head and smile. She mumbles a 'thank you' and starts to fiddle with one of her crystal earrings. Mrs Griffin walks in and calls the register before we leave for our classes. At interval, I sit alone again and do the same at lunch. After lunch, I tune out most of fourth and fifth period before finally driving home.
The next day was just as the one before and it continued on like that for the rest of the week.
On Saturday I woke up late and just stared at the ceiling. Some days it is hard for me to get up in the mornings and I just have to try my best to hold back my tears. I hate crying because it makes me feel weak, but I've been lonely for so long that it's hard to bare some days. I know it is my own fault for not trying to make friends anymore, but even when I had friends it didn't change anything. I shut my eyes again and try to get back to sleep again. I manage to sleep the rest of the weekend and only get up to eat and go to the bathroom.
On Monday I sit in homeroom and the teacher tells us we have half an hour of extra time due to an unexpected meeting. I sigh and check my watch before I notice a group of girls looking at me and whispering. I look in their direction and raise my eyebrow with curiosity. "What are those girls looking at?" I ask Clara, thinking there is something in my teeth or on my shirt. "You." She replies simply. "But why? Is there something wrong?" I question. She starts to blush and fiddles with her earring. "Um, well I think they might uh, like how you look?" She stammers. I laugh and she looks down with clear embarrassment.
