Change? Are you afraid of it or will you embrace it?
Change comes with challenges but also with opportunities.
What would happen when twelve year old Hope enters a new school, moves to a new home and meets shadows of her past?
The coldness of inside the huge school building welcomed me as I took my first steps inside of my new school. The main building of Coleman Girls High and Hemsworth Boys High was fully air conditioned and adorned with shiny white patterned tiles. This school had separate classes for girls and boys but we all shared a cafeteria, main building and library. It was my first year here like many other students and I hoped for a new start. I strolled towards the main office and was directed towards my heated classroom which was filled with new faces, none of which I have ever seen before. I sat at a random desk in front of the dull classroom as all the back seats were occupied. While waiting for my teacher to enter the classroom my eyes wondered around the room. Each seat sat a beautiful girl. Some making conversations while others quiet. Lockers furnished the back of the classrooms while the teacher's desk and a huge white board furnished the front. I have never in my twelve years of life been to an all-girls school so this was definitely a new experience for me as I mostly made friends with guys as I thought that they were less trouble.
A dark coloured skin, tall, lanky man walked into the class room and introduced himself. His name was Mr. Robin and he was our form teacher but also a math teacher. He gave a speech stating what behaviour is expected from us at Coleman High and what our grade should look like. He told us that we were required to be in an extra-curricular activity which excited me because I really wanted to be part of the drama club.
Mr. Robin asked us to introduce ourselves but as we were about to a bell rang indicating that it was lunch time. He told us to meet back in class before the bell rang and that we had lunch for an hour. The girl that sat next to me was inevitably taller than I was and had poofy long and curly hair. I had no clue where the cafeteria was so I asked her and we both walked towards the cafeteria. While walking to the cafeteria I found out that her name was Sarah. I stood behind Sarah in the long line filled with gossiping girls waiting to purchase a sandwich. As we both sat down I tied my wavy, dark brown hair into a messy bun and began eating. I didn't know how to start conversation so I sat quietly and ate when Sarah suddenly said "you seem stuck up". I stared at her wide eyed and said "excuse me?''. She replied by explaining that I was quiet and seemed friendless so I just stuffed the rest of my sandwich in my mouth and left the table and returned into my classroom where I sat feeling angered .I didn't understand, not even in the slightly way possible, how she could have judged me if she didn't even know me
Bell rang indicating the end of lunch and students rushed inside of the classroom. Since it was the first day of school we had no classes and the entire day was dedicated to us getting to know each other as were we all new to the school. We were the fresh meat of the school, the form ones. Mr. Robin made everyone stand up and state three facts about themselves. I listen to everyone and when it was my turn I felt as if my heartbeat sped up to a mile a minute. I hated taking in front of a large group of people. It always made me nervous. I stood up from my seat and focused my dark brown eyes on the wall as my introduction made its way past my plump lips," My name is Hope Clifford and I love drawing, eating and sleeping." I sat back down as fast as lightning as a girl named Maria started to introduce herself.
The rest of the day went by moderately quickly and uneventful but I was filled with joy as the bell rang indicating that it was time to go home. I strolled out of the classroom, into the flooded, cramped hallways as I made my way towards the parking lot. I admired the eye candy that filled the joint school parking lot and may I say, some boys from Hemsworth High were attractive and smelled great. A ding from my phone brought me back to reality and upon checking I saw a text from my mother asking if school was finished. I called her I told her that I was now making my way out and exited the school's compound walking home.
My parents found a place nearby to rent because going to this school meant that I couldn't live at my late grandparents' home as it was two hours away. The apartment had two bedrooms, a kitchen, a dining area and one bathroom.Luckily this moderately cramped apartment was walking distance to and from school. "Good evening", I shouted as I entered past the front door. I was greeted with the smile of my mother asking me about my first day of high school. I ate food as we conversed then made my way towards my room changing out of my school's uniform into shorts and a baggy oversized top. I dived onto my bed and began messaging my friend, Angel who I haven't seen in three years. We were best friends until I had to move but now I'm back living near my home town. She created a group chat with kids from my first school and I was really thankful because I lost all of their numbers except hers because she always called on my birthdays and I always called on hers. Everyone texted hi to the group chat and I saw one name which made my heart skip a beat.

NOTES:
FORM TEACHER - A teacher assigned to a class and is responsible for them. Is supposed to be a mentor the class they are assigned to.
This book may seem kind of boring but I promise you it would get better.
I assume my schooling system is different from some persons so:
