      My dad sat on the loveseat next to Elizabeth, and I sat on the ground with Rebeccah and Michael. Meanwhile Chris sat on a small, comfy, couch like chair next to me. We decided to watch a comedy with a hint of romance in it, and halfway through the movie I got up to use the bathroom.

        When I came out of the bathroom I bumped into someone on my way back, I looked up and saw Chris standing there glaring down at me. I looked up at him and then away and I pushed past him and back to the living room where I saw something that shocked me. My father's arm was wrapped around Elizabeth's neck shoulder and her head was rested on his shoulder. They were very close to one another.

         My father looked at me with a new look. For once, he looked less miserable. He looked... happy with her. I smiled and sat down back in my place. When the movie ended I noticed Chris had never come back to the living room. I got up and started looking for him, then I finally found him and I was very surprised at where he was.

        He stood in my room holding a picture in his hand. It was a picture of my mother, the only one I had in my room. "Wow usually when people don't want people around they don't go into their rooms and invade their privacy." I teased and he set the picture down. He sighed and turned to me.

       "I can't have you around, Evaline." He said like always with the same deep dark voice. I should hate him for being such a hardass, but I didn't. I couldn't. I wish I could feel something besides the bond. But he was my mate no matter what.

        The room became heavier for me by the second. I had no idea what he meant but it felt like he was going to reject me. "You can't have me around or you won't? What do you mean.." I ask looking down at my feet as I grew nervous for the answer. What has come over me?

        He looked me deep in the eyes with his cold ones and for a second I saw something different in his. He must have noticed my sudden change of expression as well, "Both."

        Pain shot through my body as the rejection started hitting me and cold tears ran down my pale face involuntary as Midnight whined loudly in my head. He looked away as if it hurt him in any way to see me like this. "You are a monster." I said through my cold tears and sobs.

         He touched my lips with his thumb and then quickly pulled his hand back, "I knew you'd see it my way." He said returning back to his cold self. Then he just left, and I didn't come out of my room for a little bit. When I did Chris and Elizabeth were gone.

It had been weeks since that incident. Chris didn't come around but Elizabeth started coming around more often and hanging out with my dad. Which was good because they both seemed very lonely. Dad seems happier when he's with her and not alone. I walked into the kitchen as they were cooking dinner together for us. "Hi Elizabeth." I smiled and gave her a hug.

"Evaline! How are your studies going?" Elizabeth asked looking at me with her usual smile. Ever since that talk we had a bit back she's been slowly acting more motherly like but I didn't mind.

"There okay..." they weren't. My grades had gone down by a lot compared to what they were. My life was a mess and I didn't know how I was going to fix it yet. I've been placing pieces together but some things still didn't make sense to me. Today is the day I will get my answers.

While I was piecing things together i realized that I had more powers than most of my kind. I don't know exactly what but I can feel them, I tried asking Midnight but she said I'd have to unlock and figure them out on my own. Together Midnight and I figured out a few things that happened in my life might all be connected. My mate was the one who shot me that night, my mate killed that boy at the party, he also made that boy attack Michael. He also has powers of some sort.

      I took a deep breath, "I'm going for a run." I announced starting to walk to the door when I hear Michael and Rebeccah calling after me saying they will join. "No I want to go alone!" I call back and run out the door and I go straight to wherever my nose takes me in the woods.

        The cold wind and sun beating on me as I shifted swiftly into my wolf form letting Midnight take over. Gracefully I run on all four paws. Wondering to myself how proud my mom would be if she could see me now.

I felt the grass beneath my paws and I took in the freahest of air as I ran mindlessly through forest. Cold droplets of water started to land on my fur as I ran, the rain poured down on me but I didn't let it stop me. I always loved the rain, and the water, in general, was amazing.

I was hoping my nose would lead me to my mate now that I really have his smell because we were so close yesterday. I stopped running slowly and carefully looked at all my surroundings.

Where I had ended up was somewhere I had never seen before. All around me it was dark and gloomy. Clouds clumped helping to create the darkness; buildings were dark and rundown. There was mess everywhere rocks, hugely beat up cement, and shattered glass all over. I carefully walked deeper within this sketchy place, It was all the same; broken and dark.

     
          "Look what we have here." A voice said from behind me and I turned around to see a hunter and then my vision faded to black.
