Carter's POV
I walk in and slowly make my way towards her. "hey" I say almost in a whisper she jumps but relaxes when she sees me "hey" she says looking down at her hands. "how you feeling?" I ask. "ok. just wish I wasn't here" she says.
"Thank you" I hear her say
"For what?" I ask looking up at her
"For saving me from Adam" She says. The memory of Adam hitting Bella back at school pissed me of wishing that I could punch that fucking pricks face and teach him a lesson.
" Your welcome" I said. I walked over to her and looked into her eyes, all I saw was brokenness and pain
" Your the only person who's ever done anything or even cared enough" she said
"What do you mean?" I asked looking at her confused. "never mind" she said looking away I sat in the chair next to her. I got lost in my thoughts thinking about what she said when I was the only person that cared of enough to help her.
"Carter, when can I get out of here?" she asks, snapping me out of my thoughts
" I don't know if you want I can go ask?" she nods and I walk out and go look for someone.
Bella's POV
"Carter..stay....away...from...Adam" that was the last thing i remember saying before everything went black. i woke up looking at a white ceiling I didn't know where I was. I look around the trying to find out where I was. i saw I was connected to a bunch of machines. I was in the hospital but how did I get here. I remembered the fight between Adam and Carter when he saved me that's all I could remember. I heard the door open and saw Carter walk in.
"hey" I say
"how you feeling?" He asks
"ok. just wish I wasn't here." I said. "Thank you" I say looking at him
"For what?" He asks looking at me
"For saving me from Adam" I tell him and see his hands beside him clenched into fists his knuckles almost turning white and clenching his jaw, his chest rising up and down from anger.
"Your welcome" he says walking towards me looking me in the eyes like he was trying to look for something.
" Your the only person who's ever done anything or even cared enough" I tell him cause its the truth he's the only person who's ever stood up to help me from Adam and I thank him for what he did for me.
"What do you mean?" he asks looking confused
"Never mind" I said looking away and thought if my mother was even worried about me or where I was. I doubt she's even noticed I was gone. I snap out of my thoughts and look over at Carter who's seating beside me looking like his in a deep thought
"Carter...When can I get out of here?" I ask snapping him out his thoughts
"I don't know if you want I can go ask" he says, I nod my head, I watch him as he walks out the room. I let out a sigh wondering what I ever did to deserve this. Carter walks back in with a nurse who looks like she's in her mid 30's.
"Hey, sweetie if you feel okay you can leave today" she says and I nod my head "ok, let me just get the discharge papers and you'll be ready to go" she says and walks out the room. the nurse walks back in with the papers, and turns to Carter giving him the get-out-of-here look and I think he understood cause he walked out the room.
She walks over to the cabinets and gets out my clothes that were in a bag "Here are your clothes you can change into them" she says handing me my clothes
"and sign here.... here... and here" she says a grin on her face. she hands me the papers to sign and I sign where she instructed me too, I finish signing the papers and hand it back to her.
"ok thank you well your all set...i'll leave you so you can change" she says, I nod my head and watch her walk out the door leaving me alone so I could have some privacy. I walk out the room to the elevator. it dinged and I walked in.
I start thinking of what Adam is going to do to me when I go back to school knowing I'm gonna get a beating. I wonder what happened to him after Carter saved me. I just wish I didn't have to go anymore and leave this shity town and start over with my life. I walk out and see Carter standing beside his car
"Carter I'll do anything you want. i'll do your homework for you and you don't have to pay me but pl--" he cuts me off
"Hey hey, no I was just gonna ask if you need a ride" he said
"No its ok you don't have to. I can just get a bus home" I said
"No it's ok I can take you home, Bella I won't hurt you I promise I'm not like Adam.OK" he said lifting my chin up so I could look at him. I nodded and he grabbed my hand and opened the door to his car for me being a gentlemen. He closed the door and ran to his side getting in the car.
"What's your address?" he asked I gave him my address and the whole ride there was silent you could only hear the music that was on low volume
We make it to my house and I get out the car.
"Thanks for the ride. see you at school?" I ask which probably won't happen cause who wants to be friends with a nobody
"yeah, see you at school Bella" he says with a wink. I blush a little and close the door to the car. I walk up my door steps and turn back to wave at Carter goodbye and hear his car drive away.
