"Good girl, Honey!" Paula said taking the ball out if the dog's mouth. "Go get it!" she continued clapping.
"Hello Paula," A woman said behind her.
Paula whipped her head around to see Amy there.
"We need to talk, mum to mum," she replied with a sweet smile.
"Okay, sure," Paula said as she walked over to Amy and joined her on the bench.
"I just wanted you to know that you're the perfect woman for Simon that I could ever ask for. He looks at you the same way he used to look at me. You are his world and he would do anything to make you happy."
"Wow thanks Amy! It means a lot that you would say that to me!"
"You're welcome, but that's not why I came."
"Oh then what is it?"
"I came to give you my blessing. Also I wanted to say how thankful I am that you came into his life. I haven't seen him this happy since our children were born. Just promise me that you'll treat each other well and stay married for the rest of your lives. I don't want anything to get in the way of your happily ever after. You both deserve that."
"I promise, Amy. Do you want me to tell your children that you say 'hello'?"
Amy put her hand on top of Paula's and the women glanced at each other. "Paula, you are their mother now. Any woman can give birth to a baby, but it takes a special woman to be a mother. I've been watching the way you have been interacting with Dylan and Rochelle. You already treat them like your own. My family is your family now. I can't be with them anymore, but it's a relief to know that you'll be there for them and raise them to be respected adults. I know you and Simon will do a great job being parents!"
"I'll do my best to care for them. I won't let you down."
"Thank you for all you do to make them happy!"
Paula smiled and nodded to what Amy just said. Paula had been noticing how happy Simon and the twins have been, but she didn't know she was the source of their happiness until Amy told her so.
"You know Simon tells me that we would've been best friends if you were still living."
"Okay don't tell him this, but he's right. I would've loved having afternoon tea with you. But this is the next best thing because in a way he'll marry someone just like me. He's a great husband, father and man, but remember one thing please. Don't fed his ego too much."
The two women shared a laugh.
"Well I should get going. Take care and remember what I told you."
Paula and Amy embraced until Paula felt someone shaking her shoulder. She turned around, but didn't see anyone. So she turned back around to face Amy but she was gone.
"Hello?"
"Love, wake up."
Paula opened her eyes and sat straight up in bed holding her pillow. She was in her room and it was all a very real dream. It took a few minutes to get back into reality.
"Are you alright, love?"
Paula told Simon about the dream she just had about Amy. But it didn't feel like a dream, to her it was like Amy just stopped by for a visit. It was like a real life event that she was just remembering. Simon was so happy that in a way his two best friends had finally met face to face.
