The day the news came in, that day I'd realized that nothing would be the same anymore even what I ate would be different but I didn't let that weigh me down, I needed to be strong for my mother, father and granny, they didn't deserve anything less than happiness and neither did I want to be a burden a burden to them. I took a brush and ran it through short golden curls. I looked at my reflection in the mirror even I had changed over the years and I couldn't say it was that good kind of change because I looked slimmer than the last four years of living but I didn't mind it was bound to happen until they found a generous donor, but that was just all bullshit, I knew no one would be that nice to do such a thing not any one so I was pretty much prepared for the outcome of whatever happened. At the beginning I'd thought that all this was unfair on me but as time went on, I learnt to accept things the way it was, nothing could change that so apparently I was entitled to just little things.
"Dawn dear, breakfast is ready" my mum said as she poked her head in through the door. She flashed me a smile and came into the room. She stood right behind me and hugged me tightly. She stared at me for a moment before smoothing a hand on my hair.
"It's all gonna be fine Darling don't over think it common let's go eat break fast you shouldn't be late on your first day." She said and left the room. I wasn't over thinking anything, but now she said it I was kind of freaked out about it. A new location meant a new environment, new neighborhood, new friends and a new school. I wasn't against that, but it kinda creep me out.
As I took a seat at the breakfast table, my parents stared at me like they were expecting me to say something but when they realized I wasn't going to make a comment they decided to stop beating about the bush.
"So.... How are you feeling Honey" my dad asked as I watched him visibly swallow the hard lump in his throat.
"I'm OK dad no need to worry"
I told him as I watched the tension ease out of him. He was silenced for a while before he finally said
"Your doctor called today, she said there are possibilities that they would have a donor soon, so she says you should prepare yourself for another examination before the transplant." He said with a going of happiness in his eyes. That was actually great news but didn't know if I should be happy or sad or confused. I flashed a light smile his way and nodded before I took the last bite out if my breakfast and left for school.
