Snow-capped mountains landscaped a foggy, rough view of a small black speck, which was the compound, or research center. Zooming in closer, past the tumbling snow, fog, and wind, a door is slowly presented. Following the path of the professor, a narrow hallway is revealed. Turn right, then go down another short hallway, past the elevators to the right, then turn left, go down another long hallway, then a sharp right, open the double doors, and that's where the cubicles and desk workers are. The first door to the right is Professor Hërschoff's office. Dark cherry Oak walls, with plaques and trophies lining the side shelves and walls. One plaque reads "Certification of Completion in Genetic Biochemical Engineering" and another reads "Doctorate Degree of Genetic Biochemical Engineering". The third and final one reads "Professor of Biochemical Engineering". The trophies are for : Manager of the Year 2012, Nobel Peace Prize in Physics 2020, and Professors of Engineering Lifetime Achievement Award, for developing a cure for Autism. Professor Hërschoff was formerly a Professor at Yale University,
and was transferred to Harvard about halfway through his career, until he finally retired from teaching in 2018. He had also done some personal studies in dream therapy, Schizophrenia, and Spiritual Sciences. It was after that, that he found Wide Awake Research Center. The professor was fussing at his desk, looking through his desk drawers, looking for a particular flash drive. He rarely used flash drives, but had saved one for small files. Just about this time, "Tap, Tap, Tap!" There was a tap on his window. "Come in, the door's open!"
A tall, curvy ginger walked in, slowly, propping one arm on the door frame, and the other hand on her hip, trying to be seductive. "So, boss, what cat's chased up your tree today? You haven't been out of this office for nearly four hours."
"Oh, I'm terribly sorry, Mary. I know we had dinner plans, but I've been flustered over this one idea involving my latest research." He pauses, making sure his words come out the way he wants them to. " Okay, Do you feel, in your honest opinion, that we have a definite chance of success at this? I mean...to truly be able to see what the children see and hear what they hear?"
She sighs, pausing..." I...believe...that...there is only so far you can go when you fuck with nature, before nature starts fucking with you. We've already seen that..." She clears her throat. "...but if you do it gracefully, delicately, and carefully, it can be a beautiful thing."
He thinks for a minute, nudging his glasses up, staring at the laptop screen in front of him. "I...think...you are absolutely right. See..this is why I love you, Mary. You are honest, polite, and always have a nice, delicate way of saving your ass...tactful little lady. Always remember what I said, whenever you state a negative, always try to..."
"I know, pull it back up quickly with a positive. Yes, sir." She finishes his sentence.
"Okay...So, after dinner, you get some rest. We have a very, very busy day tomorrow."
"Yes, sir." She takes a curtsy bow and turns to walk back out the door.
